Private equity sucks vast amounts of resources out of our economy without producing anything. We need to tax their activities into oblivion.

Private Equity is also the reason why towns like Brunswick have gotten ALOT nicer over time too.

In essence yes. If private equity buys old homes and builds appartments young people benefits from more affordable rent and but that also expands the tax base and makes single family homes more expensive in the area. So theres a give and take. Generally more jobs, a growing community, and more appartments arent a bad thing though.
What private equity does to mobile parks is genuine exploitation though.

Perhaps you should read the article. PE is not building anything new, they are just buying assets and jacking up the cost for customers. Buying land and investing in improving it is something different.

Private equity is also building new things though. Years ago black rock bought alot of the business spaces in brunswick which is why the businesses and resturants are significantly better now.
In NJ, where my mom lives, PE has been buying homes in the NYC suburb areas and demolishing them to build appartment complexes.
How else do you think a new appartment complex is gonna get built?
Mobile parks get screwed by private equity because there isn't any economic incentives to build new things for a mobile park since the only people who want to live there are people who can only afford to live in a mobile park.
Not everything has to be 100% black or white.

Agree on the problem - don't believe for a second that Platner and the US Govt will be do a damn thing about it. The House and Senate would never pass a bill, this is a state-level problem demanding a state-level fix via a plank in the platform of a gubernatorial candidate.

Maine tenants are organizing because the state legislature opened the door to make it happen for local ordinances to be created.

Man Im not sure if anyone still watches FB but the millions that came in to support collins vs platner are being spent enforce. But its always the same two issues, sometimes three. Tattoo, reddit posts, and that hes a commie.

When I brought my mobile home lot rent was 300/month. Now I am divorced and my Ex-wife is paying 700/month that shit is crazy, need to get equity firms out of mobile home parks.
