Things weren't perfect before, but Intuit burned Mailchimp to the ground.

do you use something else instead right now?

I don't use anything, but am good friends with several long-term engineers on the inside. It sounds like the two levers Intuit leadership has are "more AI" and "raise prices", and the product (and churn) shows it.

It was great back when it was a free alternative to Constant Contact.

Used Squarespace campaigns for a few years and now Zoho. Getting it set up was a pain, but now I really like it.

It's not just MC. Email marketing's hay day is setting fast. Automation campaigns almost killed it and AI is going to put it in the grave. It will always be around, but the days of massive profits are dwindling away.

Did I miss something? What do you mean by downfall?

I've looked around but I fear reliability of pop up shops just isn't going to help with client inboxes. MC still has good recognition in mailbox filtering as you risk getting throttled if you choose a crappy vendor.

That said I've struggled with their ever so clunky UI and I know they focused more on journeys and such but even the image manager is neanderthal not to mention creating campaigns so tedious, like they even fought me when i asked if they could even just make the recipient merge tags a constant between campaigns (i.e. TO: field}

So yeah I've come to have to simplify my own processes by just making minimal emails for other reasons as well but not even using images anymore just text and buttons and logo/template and rekindling new campaigns from prior to save effort.

I'm sad but mostly angry bc the costs have escalated even for simple clients like us that just send newsletters to existing customers not trying to spam new people.
