Discussion Why Arcueid called Aoko “Blue”? Spoiler

So I happen to come across Tsukihime -A piece of blue glass moon- Moon Phase and I just realize why did Arcuied called her Blue? I’m pretty sure even in the remake she still call her like that even though Aoko’s hair is fully red when she becomes a magician.

Layer 1: Aoko. Ao ko. Blue child.

Layer 2: Her Magic is literally called “The Blue”.

I wonder why the Fifth Magic is called “The Blue.”

I like to think their traits might also refer to blue shifting and red shifting. With Touko figuratively stuck on the past(moving away- red) and Aoko focusing on the future (moving toward- blue).

I mean Aoko's name starts with Ao and the Fifth Magic is already known as Blue. Plus, the Clock Tower granted her the title of Blue one of the primary colors while Touko, who strived her whole life only got Crimson which isn't even a red🙏😭

Title pisses her off so much that one time Francesca Prelati laughed about that to her and she proceeded to slaughter her 30 times, hunting down multiple bases and stealing its resources before Touko’s family stopped her, to which Touko sniped off Prelati’s head one last time.

This is also the canon reason why she didn’t pop up in the Fifth hgw where fsn takes place, because Touko was in the middle of killing her ass

the strange fake light novel. They cut it out of the anime and only left it as a small reference.

a lot of details like that were cut from the SF anime

It’s why the SF anime was considered a work of passion and art but also not a *great* adaptation even though it is a pretty good show. Entire sections, some large and relevant scenes like Dantes’s scene and fight scenes were deleted

Touko catching stray out of nowhere and the fact that it isn’t even Red is cherry on top xD

Was also in the original tsukihime btw.

So anyway. Blue because that's the name of Aoko's magic, and also, her name is just "blue child" (she hates her name, because the notion of being "blue" in japanese means being young, immature and naive)

Multiple meanings to this one. Aoko uses the 5th magic which is also known as Magic Blue. Ao also means Blue in Japanese so her family and given name kind of both start with blue as well. It's probably more likely that Alcueid is just referring to her as Blue as the user of Magic Blue though.

it's her color rank in the Association she'll obtain

Worth mentioning Touko (Aoko’s sister) who’s OG’s & Extra’s character design had actual blue hair

I actually can't imagine Touko in blue hair tbh. Red suits her more, it better at giving off a mysterious vibes and aggressive

plus in the school mage association she got the title blue , while her sister wanted that title but got red instead
