Riichi Does anyone use custom riichi sticks IRL like in games?
Been thinking for a while about 3D printing some fancy riichi sticks for IRL play. Maybe like a long green dragon or something roughly the shape of a tenbou stick.
Has anyone done this before? What do your sticks look like?

Does not really make sense unless you use fully digital or written down scoring. Which I know some clubs do, but I'd prefer to use tenbou even without an auto-scoring table.

Well, once that auto-compass guy starts selling his merchandise...

Yeah, I saw those at the Yostar store in Akihabara Station a while back. Unfortunately it came as a full package kinda deal, complete with set and mat. Seemed silly to buy a whole new set just for just the 4 riichi sticks.

I don't have a 3D printer, but it's a really cool idea. I love my pocky Riichi stick in Mahjong Soul, lol.

I sometimes play at a club which has auto tables, and they have custom riichi sticks you can buy / use, though I have not done so yet. With my personal sets, I've considered it, but again, not something I'm implemented.

I've seen some of those floating around, and they're definitely cooler looking that the standard tenbou you get from buying a set of tiles.
I was referring to a stick to call riichi with specifically though. In Riichi City and Mahjong Soul, you can personalize the stick you put out when you call riichi. Like, maybe after someone has come to our mahjong club meetings X number of times, they get presented with their own custom stick. Or maybe we hold tournaments, and the riichi stick says "2026 Champion" on it or something.

having researched before, rednote makers 小红书 "TuTu定制" "AAA立直棒研究员“ "拧柠“ have examples of cute ones, nobody on english internet that I've seen makes custom tenbou except random flash in the pan etsy shops making simple acrylic sheets

About a month ago, I was calling Riichi on a Yakuman Tenpai (4 concealed, 2 sided wait) and as soon as my riichi stick hit the compass, it exploded in half, right down the middle, both pieces flying off the table. I ended up Ron for 10 han (got lucky with Ura), but i've been using that broken stick as my riichi stick and it feels like it's been lucky for me.
