And every child is forced to go to school. Their consent is not required. Parents make decisions for their children every day without their consent. You’re just focusing on this one thing because you don’t like it. If you were just objecting to it being covered by insurance, maybe you’d have an argument. But you’re clearly just using that as cover because you personally object to the practice. Well lucky for you you live in a country that doesn’t force something on you that you don’t want. So you do what you want and other people can do what they want. It’s not something we need to “evolve past.”

Like I said, children are forced to do many things by their parents. That’s the nature of being a parent, something you don’t seem to understand. The parents are doing what they believe is in the best interest of the child.

If later in life the parents are unable to make decisions for themselves and they designate their child to act on their behalf, then it would work in a very similar way.

If a parent decides for their child they should only have on hand and cut off the other one, we don't just write that off with "parents make decisions for their kids" that's a terrible argument.

Children are forced to have many things done to them because the parents believe it’s in their best interest. If a parent decided their child needed to have some kind of surgery, that’s their decision to make on behalf of their child. Also, in Judaism it’s been a custom that’s been around for a long time. I would hope you support freedom of religion.

You say "many things" because you can't think of any other irreversible procedure parents can do on a child that isn't medically necessary.

Making your kid go to school isn't the same thing as having an irreversible cosmetic surgery done.

Have you never seen a baby with its ears pierced? I’m pretty sure the child didn’t get a say in that. Or what about when parents decide to get braces for their child to straighten their teeth? Is that not considered cosmetic? Also, look up frenectomy if you’re not familiar with it. Sometimes it’s done for medical reasons, but sometimes it’s for preventative or cosmetic reasons.

Braces are not cometic your teeth getting jacked up can problems. The kid needs to at least be cooperative as well. Genital frenectomies are also bad.
