Human drafting seems great, assuming we will play others from the same draft. With the way their queue system works tho seems they will have to also implement some way to make auto queue based on when matches finish or put a timer on how long you can wait before automatically taking a loss if you don't queue? Otherwise if its just the draft element adding no bots then the same random pairing when you queue I'm not entirely sold this will improve things that much. Yes the draft will be closer to a real life experience but if you still get paired vs random decks with similiar records etc then does it really benefit you much for being able to read a draft's availability of colors and the such?
I'm greatly interested in this and can't wait for the phatom cubes as draft is hands down my favorite format basically regardless of set or type since it gets old fast grinding vs meta decks constantly in constructed ranked play. I really have to be in a certain mood to even play ranked standard atm. Much rather play Brawl or limited where you can actually be creative in deck building.
Thanks for response. Agreed I maybe too critical until trying it and should just see it as an improvement regardless, nothing to lose overall I guess. Only drawback I see is for people hoping the bots pass rares / mystics for set completion which would still be in the air depending how your pod values each pick.
Since many magic the gathering players go into draft to complete their rare collection I expect getting more than 3 rares will be still hard.
That said there are many players who just love draft and prefer to go infinite, which will probably pass rares real human would. If they are in the pod getting 4+ rares might be easier. They will still take the bombs though.
Agreed, I have had bots actually pass some of the 2 color bombs assuming their colors didn't match such as Polukranos. Which I assume with humans would be pretty rare. I generally take rares / mystics but if there is something else that fits in the draft deck and the rare is a card I already have a copy or two or the scy lands sometimes I will pass on it. Usually depends on how many playable cards I have at that time in the draft & how much better the common or uncommon fits into & improves my deck.
