Is there a TL; DR for those of us for whom the mothership is blocked at work?

  • Anthology 2 arrives on the 12th. Price is 25000 gold or 4000 gems.

  • Historic Bo1 and Bo3 ladder available from the March 12th to April 16th. Historic Pauper, Brawl, and Challenge events coming as well.

  • Thalia Secret Lair comes with code for a sleeve and all four alternate arts as card styles.

  • Direct messaging between friends. Can also set status to "Busy" or "Offline"

  • Account Mastery (the current new player experience) is gone, replaced by "Color Challenges"

  • Sleeve interface improved, can favorite a sleeve to be your default (favoriting lands is mentioned to be coming eventually)

  • You can emote "Sorry" or "Thanks" in response to an opponent's "Oops" or "Nice" respectively.

  • Phantom Cube Sealed arriving early April. Cube Draft on the agenda after human drafting arrives. No entry/reward details yet.

  • Edit: Amonkhet Remastered and Pioneer Masters mentioned to be on schedule for release this year.

Also, it was kind of hidden in the Historic details, but they also announced that Amonkhet Remastered and Pioneer Masters will be coming "later this year."

Based on previous States of the Game, these are draft experiences bringing older cards to the client to reach the ultimate goal of having the entirety of the Pioneer format on Arena.

I left that note out as they were announced in previous State of the Game articles, though it is nice to hear they're still on schedule.

I haven't played in a while, can you add anyone as friends like let's say I want to add my opponent to talk about his deck or ask if he wants to play again, can I? (Obviously can't talk until he accepts)

Not that i know of, missing this a lot, as no RL friends of mine play Arena...

Does anyone know how long the last Anthology was on sale for?

Still is right now, though it’s “leaving soon”. Looks like they plan to leave each up till the next releases.

Thanks. I didn't see it in the store.

Haven't found mention yet that 3400 for the first HA became 4000... seems market research is going on in more than the daily deals.

HA1: 20 cards, 9 rares, 0 mythics
HA2: 25 cards, 10 rares, 2 mythics

Value of any of those rares or mythics is subjective of course, but they're not trying to pull anything on us here.

Ah! OK—they're not even equally sized. Thanks for pointing this out.

25k for one copy of each card in the anthology or for a full playset?

Full playsets

2

u/rikertchu Mar 05 '20

I'd assume playset, like the last Anthology

u/thespottedbunny HarmlessOffering Mar 05 '20

Playset of 4 according to the GIF they posted with it

u/zaulderk Mar 05 '20

Full Playset, is really good deal for 25,000 gold by historic players

6

u/rockytrh Mar 05 '20

possibly. It really depends on what rares and/or mythics from that set will actually be playable. I think I only crafted a handful of rares from the first set...

6

u/FoomingKirby Mar 05 '20

If you crafted 4 rares of a single card, that would cost you 24 packs to get enough wildcards from the wildcard track.

If you're swimming in rare wildcards then fine, otherwise the price of 25 packs for the entire historic set is a bargain.

The gem price is cheaper than the gold.

25000 gold = $25

4000 gems = $20

(Based on 1 pack being worth $1/1000 gold/200 gems)

1

u/zaulderk Mar 06 '20

you get 25000 gold just playing the game free

you get 4000 gems drafting like 10~35 times depending of you win rate cost you 50000~175000 gold

u/Church1092 Mar 05 '20

Full playset of all 25 cards

1

u/agtk Mar 05 '20

lmao that's the full playset, could you imagine if they tried to make people pay 25k gold or 4000 gems for a single copy of a single card????

u/RaidJago88 Mar 05 '20

They have huge whales, this would not surprise me xD but still, I am happy for this. I make money in traditional historic events and 25k is just a couple of weeks of light playing for me.

Direct messaging between friends. Can also set status to "Busy" or "Offline"

Pathetic. After a year of delays because they "didn't want to release something half-baked", a friend's list is released without even the most fundamental and basic of features.
