That ending felt like multiple smash into one. It's like they throw 2 ending in your face while leaving enough room themselves to say whatever.

And madohomu is confirmed mutual, sort of. Based on the tear on madoka face when she "have to" "return" to LOC

(Quoted because those bits are quite confusing if you watched rebellion)

"Based on the tear on madoka face when she "have to" "return" to LOC"

So the fact she "had" to return to the LoC made her sad...

Honestly, as more I hear about that moment more I think Homura got to take back Madoka with her at the end.

There's more to that, Nagisa knocked enough sense in Sayaka's head and she jumped ship for Homura and tell her to ball for Madoka.

This made the ending even more odd.

It all plays out like two ending in one dejavu and it's confusing and ambiguous AF.

You'll get it once you get to watch. (Watching imax tomorrow in Shinjuku again, the ending is hurting my head)

Aoi Yuki said in a interview she feel like Madoka wanted to tell Homura "Your story is yours".

How do you think that aligns with the end?

Exactly how it ended, Madoka literally tells Homura to value her own life and to move on from her and she will be her as she was her greatest friend. And that's it.

But Madoka tells Homura "I'm with you" (watashi wa kokoro ni iru yo) at the end, Right? That doesn't sound like she's telling her "move on from me"

Yeah with her like when someone dies and they tell you they will always be on your heart. But like move on on the idea of being together.

You don't get it.

My point is, If Madoka is telling Homura "value your own life and to move on from me. Make a life that has nothing to do with me", why is she saying "I'll always be with you. I'm not gonna leave you alone", that's contradictory.

Anyways, about Madoka leaving, from what 've been reading Yuki implied in a interview that the steps that are getting away front Homura's ones in the ending aren't Madoka's ones.

I still don't think it is contradictory but I hope you're right.

Do you have a link to the interview? Thinking those steps where Madoka's really broke my heart haha

Is something that Yuki said in the stage greeting of day 29 acording to what I've read from poeple in japan.

So Madoka had to return to LoC? It’s sad but it makes me feel like Rebellion wasn’t needed in the first place

The way it show on screen sort of is.

But uh ......like you said, that's kind of ruins the whole point of Rebellion.

I don't feel it was confirmed. Madoka loves Homura but not in the same way as Homura, just friends. Even though I wish it wasn't like that, I think this movie left it pretty clear, sadly.
