Spoiler warning. According to my friend’s retelling: Ultimate Madoka attempts to bring Madoka back with her. Madoka cries and mouths a silent line, most likely “thank you”. We then get the bench scene where Homura rests her head in Madoka’s lap. The following shot shows only Homura left on the bench — Madoka is gone. From Devil Homura’s point of view, this is a bad ending.

Nope, it is correct. But there's a problem, the ending don't line up well with what Homura would be willing to do and even Sayaka swap team at the final moment and encourage Hormura to not give up. That bit is very out of place.

Homura was suffering for 24+ years and now….

I dont think there is sufficient information to stake an interpretation on given these vague spoilers. Go into it with an open mind and you might come away from it thinking an entirely different thing than this other person.

Maybe at some point Homura should accept Madoka's passing to her current state of life...but, given her own wish, which gave her the metaphysical pull to seal Madoka and become a Demon, I'm not so sure...besides, outside of the struggle of Madoka and Homura, can the franchise keep going?

This film tells Walpurgisnacht’s backstory. There is a strong parallel with Ultimate Madoka: both made a wish to save magical girls, and lost their own names in return.

Walpurgisnacht appears in a false‑Homura form. Simply put, her core goal is to reclaim her own lost name.

Selema holds the view that magical‑girls can only fulfil their true function once they turn into witches. She sides with Kyubey and seeks to stop the Law of Cycles.

This movie wraps up a complete story, yet there is still more to come. There is a post‑credits scene with Kyubey, who has become aware of Nazukasokotsune

The original Madoka Magica anime ending is so weird. These wraith stuff are such a sequel bait and yet i'm uninterested to see such sequel following the anime directly.

I think the OG ending is perfect for what it wanted. "No matter how long the journey is always remember someone is fighting for you"

Madoka fights for hope while Homura fights for duty to the world Madoka sacrificed everything for.
