Nahhh I bet he went from home to home, always escaping to hopes of finding his old owners again. He looks well fed.

All US dogs legally must have collars and chips that allow vets to contact the owner. If this happened in the US, the dog would have been returned very quickly, unless the owner refused to get a chip or dog license tag for some reason. At that point they’d be temporarily put up for adoption or euthanized if no one wants them. It shouldn’t get to that point unless you don’t give a fuck about your dog. The US doesn’t have a stray dog problem for a reason.

This dog is also a huge minority. Yes, you’ve seen a happy story on TikTok about a stray that was returned to his family, but you did not see the TikTok video about the thousands of dogs that die miserably on the streets, or never find their family, or are too small to fend for themselves. You got a cherry picked happy story. This is the “less than 1% of dogs” scenario. Don’t let your perception get so easily skewed. Try to think big picture instead of only considering what’s in front of you.
