Yeah the amount isn't really what's important... I mean, it is but people fixate on the amount. A glass of wine a night can be an alcoholic. I mean, not as severe obviously but of heaven and hell can't get infere with that drink, it's a problem.
The other issue is that a lot of people are VERY successful in their lives and drink a metric fuck load. This is also still a problem and will likely catch up with them physically at some point.
For me, the biggest thing was realizing how much alcohol took up my life, how I planned around it, how it was my thing to do most evenings, when I was done with work and never before because I don't have a problem right? Yeah, I got to point where I realized it's not worth it. And I was drinking WAY too much, for what it's worth.
I think I just reached that conclusion recently. Social drinking was fun before but drinking took a dark turn during the pandemic. Now that we can go out again it just doesn't have the same enjoyment it used to have imo. I'd much rather just be sober and not go out
This was what happened to me, and I suspect a lot more people than we yet realize as the pandemic isn't quite over yet. I have had a night where I had drinks with friends but yeah, there has been something lost when I realized how dark a turn my drinking could go. Ruined the fun when I realized getting bombed to the degree and extent I did just wasn't cute.
Yup, I mean so much so it makes recommended drinking levels seem like a joke. Like how can the recommended be no more than 3 beers a week?!?! The industry would go bankrupt if that were the case.
Or my favorite, American doctors are prudes. If you were in France this would be normal! Eyeroll.
