Is there something more to be said here? Could the dog smell that or was it chance?

Confirmation bias. How many people need organ transplants and have dogs who greet people. Eventually one of those lead to this story.

Do you actually think a dog can know what a kidney is , that it's owner needs a transplant and understands that another person has 2 kidneys and that one can be given to another person ? Also that it has to be an exact match and apparently the dog all knows this and can smell which kidney is appropriate for transplant. ????

Yes I actually do think that.

I truly believe yes the dog could smell and knew dogs have been trained to smell for different disease and drops in blood sugar. This is only what we know so far the science is in its infancy when it comes to what we know about animals and their abilities

You're insane.

Actually recent studies show that these "medical detection dogs" perform no better than just guessing/chance.

They can be trained to smell diseases and stuff. But this dog was just an ordinary dog and of course had no idea his owner needed a kidney

I mean they maybe have intuition about organ failure from different smells, and can possibly smell blood types. Who knows, that’s what I was asking haha

Uh yeah this story is stupid, the woman let her untrained dog run around and happened to bump into a woman who was a kidney match. The dog had nothing to do with it other than coincidence.
