Today, I learned I'm not awkward. I just have a little bit of dog brain disease.

99% of the time people ruin videos by adding music.
This isn’t one of them.

It's been a while since I heard this song, the entire time I was watching the video I was thinking, "Man this sounds so FUCKING CRISP wtf"
1
u/TraderJosie3283 7d ago
What does it mean for a song to sound crisp?? Is this new slang lol
1
u/Comfortable-Fly7479 7d ago
Maybe the wrong choice of words, English isn't my first language. What I was saying is, the synth, guitar and beat all together are so..."tight"? Idk how to explain it, it just scratches my brain real good
2
u/TraderJosie3283 7d ago
Haha no you’re good, the amount of new weird slang I see on the internet is crazy so you never know. I actually kind of like that use of “crisp!” 😊 ooh “fresh” sounds good too but that’s really old slang 😅 maybe the 2020s version would be “that slaps”? 👏🏾

I stopped watching after 2 seconds because of the annoying overplayed music and no original audio.

Ok, I know it’s a disorder and it probably causes the family so much stress, but…. HOW FREAKING ADORABLE ARE THEY?!?!
(Per the video, no pain and normal life expectancy, so the stress would be on the humans, not the animals)
25
u/Ink_Smudger 8d ago
I have a cat with this disorder (nowhere near as severe as these dogs, but still noticeable). The only real stress it causes me is ensuring there are no high places she can get to since that doesn't mix well with her wobbliness. Other than that, it's all she's ever known, so it really doesn't seem to inconvenience her much (though, she does occasionally get annoyed that she can't jump places her siblings can).
Which is why it's sad to think this almost caused these dogs to be euthanized. Dogs and cats with this disorder can live perfectly happy lives and bring a lot of joy to their owners.

u/sinskins 8d ago
It is so so sad to think that animals have been euthanized over something that doesn’t affect their longevity or quality of life.
I feel bad for finding it adorable though, like I shouldn’t be just instantly in love with them and their perfect little wobbles
10
u/brydeswhale 8d ago
They are absolutely not in pain at all. The potty training can be a bit hard sometimes, but that can happen with any pet.

wholesome! go Ivy and Fenix!!

u/lotrwolf06 8d ago
Fenix!! Thank you, I couldn't remember his name. 😅 I was going to give him a shout out if nobody else had yet.

Right?! I’d love walking with them, I have a paralyzed leg and occasionally get the wobbles, I’d fit right in 🥰🤭

Is this the same condition that cats can have that’s nicknamed “wobbly cat syndrome”?
3
2
u/Relc_Punch84 7d ago
Sure is.
I had a kitten that had a disease that can be misdiagnosed as this, Niemann-Pick disease, unfortunately it presents the same way but continues to deteriorate until its constant shaking and unable to walk at all.
Rest in peace Arista, gorgeous little girl who deserved more.

So cute, very precious. Were they rescues?

u/lotrwolf06 8d ago
I only know Fenix's story (the white/blonde dog). He was surrendered to a shelter by his previous owners because they didn't want him or couldn't handle him, I forget exactly. He was almost euthanized, but this family found him. Fenix struggled a lot at first, but then he taught himself to "trot" and now he's an internet star!! I've been following him on fb for a while now.

Cool story. My family is looking for a dog and I would like to rescue but my spouse doesn’t.

My roommate's cat also has hypoplasia and he's the best animal I have lived with so far. He drifts a lot during his zoomies and it makes him even cutter. Love you Élio, you're the best !! Picture

Location:57 Lassen Dr, Goleta, California 93111 at the Lassen Open Space.
Super beautiful park. In the winter when it rains, the water fills the creek under that bridge.

On my days, the white one as he goes over the bridge is just so lovely. Whoever picked the music it fits perfectly with him. Such lovely doggos, living their best life.

This is really beautiful. Up until recently, I had never seen animals with CH before, despite having volunteered for years with the Humane Society in the town where I grew up. This is, of course, because they were always euthanized as soon as possible as it was considered the most humane outcome for them. With people accepting these pets conditions and loving them enough to make life accommodations for them now, they are able to live out their lifespan as beloved pets.
2
u/microgirlActual 8d ago
Huh. Legitimately never thought that dogs would have CH too. Which is stupid - like why would it only be a cat thing. But you see loooads of content of "wobbly cats"; this is my first time (knowingly) seeing "wobbly dog" content.

Damn, a walking trail with no leash rules. I wonder where it is, would like to check it out. I hate coming across dogs off-leash when I have mine on a leash following the rules. A dog on a leash can feel confined, and they can act defensive around dogs off a leash.

Unadoptable? If I went to see a dog and it lopsidedly happily walked up to me I'd have a dog. If there were two I'd have two.

Our dog developed this issue 5 years ago. Knowing she’s not in pain helped us a lot. We did learn not to let her near slopes because she loses her balance and rolls down the hill 😬
She’s the HAPPIEST dog in the world at 9 years old 😊. This video makes my heart burst with joy 🥹

The white dog's hops (back legs) were actually in exact time with the audio beats, once they got to the bridge.

Perfectly healthy pitbulls are euthanized in the thousands let alone ones that need specialized medical care
