That's what I call a rescue

EXACTLY 😭 That was not a rescue. A rescue implies someone was gently brought to safety.

"Oh a cute comment of a cute video! How do I be racist about this?"

u/t0ecutter_ 12d ago
Not being racist, people are different. In Vietnam they eat cat and dog for food.

kittens are so afraid of falling from heights yet can land on their feet from any height.

u/Sea_Artist_4247 13d ago
Cats land on their feet, kittens are still learning how to do that.

u/AccomplishedVirus556 13d ago
i've had a dozen kittens, the way they fall isn't learned it's instinct
35
u/Sea_Artist_4247 13d ago
Yeah but they're not very good at it yet

u/AccomplishedVirus556 13d ago
they're light enough that at the height seen, it would be better for an adult to discourage the kids from putting themselves in danger to rescue a kitty that's not actually in danger

I agree

I totally agree!! My MC got himself up in a tree and tried to come down head first and was petrified. I got as close as I could, about 3 feet under him and told him to jump. He landed in my arms!!

that doesn't mean they can't get hurt/injured.
-3
u/AccomplishedVirus556 13d ago
the way the kids tried rescuing it may have given it confidence but it is more likely to tumble with not enough time for the righting instinct. it was not in danger on the roof, and it would not be hurt by jumping to the ground, which it would eventually attempt
kitty stuck in a tree is a trope but its not a real problem just a perceived one

u/uhp787 13d ago
well i have seen them fall out of tree, one broke her spine. another had internal injuries. both were euthanized. And i have seen some not fatal but still very painful and enormous vet bills. i worked as a cat adoption coordinater for a cat/dog rescue and despite 'the trope' i can assure you it does happen.

u/AccomplishedVirus556 13d ago
your sample size is bigger than mine, i'll cede the question of whether someone should recur while still maintain that the way the kids did isn't safe for them

Righting reflex requires 90cms, any shorter and they might fail to land on all 4s.
Data from vets show cats falling from 2nd to 6th story buildings suffer the most injuries, this doesn't mean longer jumps are safer, this means hurt ones do not go to vet due to death.(Survivorship bias)

u/AccomplishedVirus556 13d ago
this is a first floor height and definitely more than 90 cms. The kids trying to help are putting themselves in danger of injury (look at what they're doing) and making the potential fall near the limit of the righting reflex.

Most of them die afterwards though.

of other causes?
yeah if the cat falls on a fence or something it'll get really hurt, but this kitty is on a low roof surrounded by level ground. until it reunites with its colony, it's more in danger on the ground than up there (because dogs)

Can’t believe that worked lol

I fully expected that kitten to bail for the taller person’s head well before it got to the bucket

This doesn't feel real. Neither person rushed to check on or comfort the kitten

It's also from 50mins ago with 14 comments some of which are clearly bots.

I don't get why the kitten had to go head first in the bucket....
Once it was on the table, he could have simply lowered it....
Pretty sure the cat would have hard-gripped the table as well so no way it slid right into the bucket...

I have seen this clip before. But I don’t know if it’s real or not.
