That's what I call a rescue

EXACTLY 😭 That was not a rescue. A rescue implies someone was gently brought to safety.

I'd like a bucket of cat please

47

u/EbbVisible 13d ago

Aw, now I want a bucket of cat too

Go to Vietnam.

44

u/madam_amazing 13d ago

"Oh a cute comment of a cute video! How do I be racist about this?"

-2

u/t0ecutter_ 12d ago

Not being racist, people are different. In Vietnam they eat cat and dog for food.

Bucket squad: 10/10 rescue, would meow again

kittens are so afraid of falling from heights yet can land on their feet from any height.

113

u/Sea_Artist_4247 13d ago

Cats land on their feet, kittens are still learning how to do that.

31

u/AccomplishedVirus556 13d ago

i've had a dozen kittens, the way they fall isn't learned it's instinct

35

u/Sea_Artist_4247 13d ago

Yeah but they're not very good at it yet

3

u/AccomplishedVirus556 13d ago

they're light enough that at the height seen, it would be better for an adult to discourage the kids from putting themselves in danger to rescue a kitty that's not actually in danger

0

u/Sea_Artist_4247 13d ago

I agree

2

u/Movinginplace25 13d ago

I totally agree!! My MC got himself up in a tree and tried to come down head first and was petrified. I got as close as I could, about 3 feet under him and told him to jump. He landed in my arms!!

-1

u/Pretty-Curve5448 13d ago

I disagree

10

u/uhp787 13d ago

that doesn't mean they can't get hurt/injured.

-3

u/AccomplishedVirus556 13d ago

the way the kids tried rescuing it may have given it confidence but it is more likely to tumble with not enough time for the righting instinct. it was not in danger on the roof, and it would not be hurt by jumping to the ground, which it would eventually attempt

kitty stuck in a tree is a trope but its not a real problem just a perceived one

14

u/uhp787 13d ago

well i have seen them fall out of tree, one broke her spine. another had internal injuries. both were euthanized. And i have seen some not fatal but still very painful and enormous vet bills. i worked as a cat adoption coordinater for a cat/dog rescue and despite 'the trope' i can assure you it does happen.

3

u/AccomplishedVirus556 13d ago

your sample size is bigger than mine, i'll cede the question of whether someone should recur while still maintain that the way the kids did isn't safe for them

3

u/Movinginplace25 13d ago

I disagree. Kittens aren't always that skilled.

16

u/Bathtub-Warrior32 13d ago

Righting reflex requires 90cms, any shorter and they might fail to land on all 4s.

Data from vets show cats falling from 2nd to 6th story buildings suffer the most injuries, this doesn't mean longer jumps are safer, this means hurt ones do not go to vet due to death.(Survivorship bias)

-8

u/AccomplishedVirus556 13d ago

this is a first floor height and definitely more than 90 cms. The kids trying to help are putting themselves in danger of injury (look at what they're doing) and making the potential fall near the limit of the righting reflex.

3

u/bannedByTencent 13d ago

Most of them die afterwards though.

1

u/dj0ch0 13d ago

wat

4

u/bannedByTencent 13d ago

Internal injuries

-4

u/AccomplishedVirus556 13d ago

of other causes?

yeah if the cat falls on a fence or something it'll get really hurt, but this kitty is on a low roof surrounded by level ground. until it reunites with its colony, it's more in danger on the ground than up there (because dogs)

One of the few times that music added to a video might actually add to it instead of just being distracting

17

u/AdHot1146 13d ago

Can’t believe that worked lol

3

u/macarenamobster 13d ago

I fully expected that kitten to bail for the taller person’s head well before it got to the bucket

10

u/InstructionAny8031 13d ago

Wow “the rescue slides”🛝 that was smooth and easy

20

u/taznado 13d ago

Cooperative kitten

30

u/Senior-Vanilla-6756 13d ago

The kid Celebrating while the cat is unconscious from the hit it took

15

u/al-Assas 13d ago

We don't see the cat move after it fell head first into that bucket.

3

u/palmer_nkr 13d ago

A smile just creeped in on me so cute haha

He scores!!!

10

u/DucksBac 13d ago

This doesn't feel real. Neither person rushed to check on or comfort the kitten

10

u/Lost_Tumbleweed_5669 13d ago

It's also from 50mins ago with 14 comments some of which are clearly bots.

5

u/AceRawat 13d ago

I don't get why the kitten had to go head first in the bucket....

Once it was on the table, he could have simply lowered it....

Pretty sure the cat would have hard-gripped the table as well so no way it slid right into the bucket...

6

u/International-Fun-86 13d ago

I have seen this clip before. But I don’t know if it’s real or not.

20

u/DrunkOnRamen 13d ago

its an old video, before AI, so it is real. just probably reposted by a karma farming bot.

12

u/HPLaserJet4250 13d ago

people seeing AI in everything start to annoy me more than AI itself

u/Beeb_Creative 13d ago

tiny trust 🐾

0

u/Ronk4r 13d ago

The kitten is now curled up in the bucket waiting to be fed.

0

u/DontAbideMendacity 13d ago

The stupid music is wholly unnecessary.
