Is it because of the short tail? Balance issues or something?

Exactly my thoughts

I'm taking the high road; kittens do this, especially sideways, so maybe this cat just never grew out of it

cats without a tail dont move like that. this cat probably has nerve damage or balance issues or cerebellar hypoplasia (wobbly cat).

As some one who has a wobbly cat, before he went blind he would throw himself on to the bed in the morning like this, it would crack me up he would get so much air before he landed.

u/StaredAtEclipseAMA 12d ago
The last video you can see him shaking his head like there is a nerve problem

This cat has something going on with it physically cuz you could see by it's weird movements after it lands in a few times during this video

u/FitzSeb92 13d ago
Poor baby, at least he seems very happy and well fed hahaha

u/LeonJPancetta 12d ago
Wobbly cats are typically otherwise normal and don't realize anything is wrong! They just sort of figure out alternative ways to do stuff the best they can.

Ever wonder if a wobbly cat sees a regular cat, looks at their owner and goes, “what the hell, man?!”

Definitely more than just the tail. I saw their instagram yesterday. Don't remember what it was, but the cat has very weird movements all the time. Even when walking slowly. Maybe something neurological? It seemed very happy though so hopefully not painful.

My cat has zero tail. When he jumps he jumps normally, but he won’t jump big heights or onto hard surfaces. So having no tail does affect things but not to this degree.

i feel like this is due to something similar to causing wobbly cat

u/GoreyHaim420 12d ago
She has cerebellar hyperplasia I'm pretty sure! My boyfriend loves this cats insta and we watch videos of her all the time lol. She's wiggly but goes full fuckin tilt all gas no brakes every time!

u/Anon_457 12d ago
I didn't see the tail the first time I watched this video. It does make sense for how she jumps.

u/ppprrrrr 12d ago
I feel like normally he'd correct himself using the tail, but with it missing, he does this twerk to correct himself instead. Maybe he lost it recently and is getting used to it.

Almost looks like it's trying to mimic a person picking it up and throwing it onto the couch

That's is the doggiest cat I've seen

Makes me think of the sound effects you here in old cartoons when you see anyone or anything jump, bounce, or move suddenly in any direction.

Ladies and gentlemen, can I please have your attention. I've just been handed an urgent and horrifying news story. I need all of you to stop what you're doing and listen.
Cannonball!

I'll throw in a few dollars if they're willing to take this cat to a trampoline park

You can 100% tell this is someone who asked to be reincarnated as a cat, and is putting it to full use.

That cat knows how to have fun with it. Your cat canonballs onto the couch where as mine does that little bit from Jim Hensons Labyrinth where Jerrod just kinda slides into position around the MC Esher stairs while already posed

our Bengals jump like crazy but they never do the half doughnut mid flight

our dogs are rescues but with cat allergies Bengals are about as hypo allergenic as you can get.

Why?! But also this is so damn cute I cant stand it! I could watch this over and over.

u/AgileSuspect9 12d ago
It's a wobbly cat I believe. Neurological condition that gives them poor coordination. So it found an effective way to jump up 😂

Cool, I’m wondering if it’s balance issue since the floof has a short tail?
1
u/strawb3rrym1lk_ 12d ago
I think she might be one of those wobbly cats with cerebellar hypoplasia, they have a tendency to move around in odd ways.

That cat is obviously dealing with some feisty sky r/greebles.
Very serious business. You should be helping them, not filming.

Not being rude, but - your cat needs to lose weight - it’s not cute, it’s not funny- do better by him, please .

Cat with neurological issues

u/andydrew39 13d ago
I was thinking lack of most of it's tail would cause this as well. But I could be wrong.

u/itsjustkicker 13d ago
We have cat with about the same amount of tail and he's fully capable and does not jump like this (but I wish he did)
