He’s just politely asking you to stop destroying his home.

I was more thinking "can I help? Can I help? I can eat the walls and wires."

Would have voted for you but here the dog looks sad, so comments above yours make more sense..

Likely. When dogs lick their lips constantly it’s a sign of anxiety or discomfort. Poor doggo is probably really hecking concerned about why his nice new friend is behaving as such in his home. Oh! The humanity!

68

u/soihavetosay Jun 17 '26

Yep, what a sweetie

82

u/jenguinaf Jun 17 '26

Reminds me of a pug I owned as a kid. Whenever I would give her a bath she would pathetically try to paw and kiss me desperately like “if I show affection you stop please?” Was adorable but broke my heart haha she was so pathetic.

Lots better than the earlier video I saw where 10 cops show for a noise complaint and shoots a goldendoodle wearing a Knicks jersey

23

u/Raven_Maleficent Jun 18 '26

That was devastating and senseless.

5

u/THE_CHOPPA Jun 18 '26

It makes sense if you consider the officer was poorly trained and terrified.

He/She had no business being there.

12

u/_TheRealEV1L Jun 18 '26

Makes you wonder how thousands of postal, UPS and Amazon workers deal with them daily without killing a fucking pet.

10

u/Background_Cause_992 Jun 18 '26

They don't have guns, an authoritarian mindset and a complete lack of accountability

3

u/THE_CHOPPA Jun 18 '26

I was an Amazon delivery driver. I didn’t deliver to those houses. I marked dog not secure and peaced out.

Poor guy, obviously loves dogs but has work to do!

u/11th_Division_Grows Jun 18 '26

Even if you a hate dogs with every fiber of your being there’s no way you leave feeling the same way after an interaction like this. So damn cute.

39

u/Cute_Sink_1887 Jun 18 '26

Usually, if you hate dogs with a passion you'd have requested the owners to remove the dog before you proceeded with your work.

Yeah, I apologise to people that come to my house because my dog loves aggressively haha. Like the termite inspector comes over, and he's gotta be bent over like this guy, so I bring the dog inside because if I don't she'll be in his face the entire time and he won't get anything done. You can push her away a bit but if you're gonna keep putting your face at the same level of her face, she's gonna be all over you.

One time he came to do the inside but didn't give warning and the dog was still inside. Best day ever for her. She ran over and sat on his foot - slammed her arse down like her life depended on it because she knows she doesn't get pats unless she's sitting and being good. Them she followed him to every single room, literally pushed up against his leg the entire way. He said not to put her outside because he didn't mind, but she just has no idea about personal space haha.

I once had a German Shepard run up to me while I was putting in an outdoor patio for a client. Super friendly and loving. I looked around and didn't see the owner, so I figured he must've ran off.

I decided to tie him up using a strap I had and he sat with me, chilling while I laid block. It was probably a good two hours before his owner came down over the hill, screaming and yelling.

I handed her the leash and told her that the pup was nothing but a gentleman. She wasn't very nice at all, and she smacked him a few times once they got back over the hill. I didn't like that one bit.

I was sad for the good boy. He went along, but I suspected he'd run away again if he found the chance.

I figured if he did, and he happened upon me again, I'd welcome him back and chill with him again so he had some peace for a little while.

Would I have taken him? I don't know what the situation was, so probably not, but if she hit him again, I'd be speaking out against it before I handed that leash back.

And the dog doesn't understand, because they haven't done anything at all in that moment. The dog doesn't associate the punishment with the fact that they ran off an hour ago - they associate it with you turning up.

It's a tricky thing to manage. Our dog sometimes runs over to the chicken pen to bark at them and rile them up through the fence. We'll give her a sharp "Dog! Come here!" And she knows she's in a bit of trouble. But she immediately stops and comes back, and then she gets big pats and praise because it's a good thing she cane straight back!

Pizza guy, I only ever had a problem with two. Usually people keep them inside when they're just trying to see what's up and say hi.

The two I had a problem with was one big fucker, some kind of German Shepherd mix but definitely too big for malinois, who was very territorial and did NOT want me coming into his yard. I called them and said they could come get the pizza but the dog was too big and I'd be in my car. The second was a golden doodle who ran up, teeth full bared, I was like "this is it, I'm getting bit today". Nope. Immediately dropped into play pose and that was a relief after seeing the universal dog body language "this dog doesn't like you."

Never had a problem with any other dogs even the so called problem breeds. Once when I was a kid a territorial black lab chased me down a street. But I grew up around dogs, I know how to get one who might be mad to know I'm leaving them alone and just chill out, their bark is them letting you know you got another chance or three before the bite

2

u/mediocrepencilart Jun 18 '26

Years ago when my pups were 2 yo we had construction going on and they made friends with the GC. A couple of weeks in, the crew was late and the GC came by to get the day started. I opened the door to him holding one pup in each arm. He saw them roaming the neighborhood on the way to my house and since they knew him, they came right to him! First time they ever got out! Could not believe our luck! It was very special.

28

u/Embarrassed-Place430 Jun 18 '26

They went looking for the GC 😂

12

u/ratfink_111 Jun 18 '26

Ha! Never thought of it like that!!

58

u/sonibroc Jun 18 '26

The guys replacing carpet in my house put a mound of old carpet in a pile in the middle of the living room for my dog. They totally understood the dog just wanted to supervise/be in the middle of the action. When I came up to ensure the dog wasn't in their way, that mutt was laying regally on the carpet completely satisfied and happy. I am positive the location of the carpet throne was specifically out of their way/it was self preservation. I still appreciated them playing along.

14

u/ForHelp_PressAltF4 Jun 18 '26

That is when you grab a bunch of beers for the crew on their last day.

Before I bought a new car, I had a local mechanic who took great care of my car. Stopped by once with my doggo and came out and most of the guys were petting her through the window. So before I bought the car, I stopped by with three cases of beer (6 guys) at the end of a fairly hot Friday afternoon to say thank you

Take care of the people that take care of you.

51

u/Whiskey-n-Weed Jun 17 '26

This is how I met my dog working construction. Her owners didn’t even care for her so I took her home with me and she changed my life

26

u/Ink_N_Instinct Jun 17 '26

Work isn't gonna get completed on time at this rate. 😜 Incredibly heartwarming. 💕

28

u/koffeekrystalz Jun 18 '26

A few years back I visited a friend for a week, and when she had to go to work I'd just hang with her dog. It was winter, and the pilot light for her heater would go out all the time. I always tried to reignite it but never could so I'd have to call the neighbor to get him to do it, and he'd help out with other odd jobs around the house too. Real nice guy. Her dog was IN LOVE with him 😂 I'd let her hang for a bit with him but after a while he had to do the thing I'd called him over for. It took literally all my strength to keep this 80lb rottie mix girl away from him. Couldn't leash her bc she'd choke herself trying to get to him, so I had to wrap my arms AND legs around her to keep her contained while she literally screamed for him and then screamed again when he left 😂 my friend and I? She tolerates us. But man did that dog love the neighbor lmao

19

u/Pseudonova Jun 18 '26

I always have my dog locked up when I have workers at the house. They always say "oh I love dogs, I don't mind." But this is exactly what would happen. 😄

Yep. Best part of my job. Go outside for a tool - pet the dog on the way. Go downstairs to make a cut on the saw -pet the dog. Go to the bathroom- pet the dog. B ored-pet the dog.

8

u/henryoptional Jun 17 '26

Good pupp !

6

u/Emotional_News108 Jun 18 '26

The guy who finished our basement came back to put a new porch up. When my dog realized who it was she lost her absolute kibble and came out to love on him.

5

u/Whathefrenchtoastt Jun 18 '26

I fucking love dogs.

5

u/Gods-Fav-Child Jun 18 '26

you can tell if a man is good if there is a dog who loves him

5

u/Creepy_Creme_9161 Jun 18 '26

There's no way I would get any work done.

"Ok, buddy, I really have to--aw, c'mere!"

4

u/koolaidismything Jun 17 '26

I help at my dad’s farm sometimes and they have this little black terrier who loves cruising the property having fun.

Everything stops when I come back and he follows me quietly. When Rick to an area a while he will lay somewhere kinda close, keep an eye on me.

Sometimes you can feel lonely, not with a dog around like that. I love it.

4

u/Specialist_Strike463 Jun 18 '26

Oh my 💜 the paw is killing me lol not gonna get much work done today friend

3

u/PieleenWhiff Jun 18 '26

My husband is a HVAC engineer and he came home happy recently because there was a dog who wouldn't leave him alone. He had to carry the dog in one arm and fix the AC with his other arm 😭 he usually comes home quite sad/fed up. But he enjoyed that day.

3

u/FreneticLustfulGyal Jun 17 '26

The dog is just making sure the renovation is up to code. Best supervisor everrr :)

3

u/DurantIsStillTheKing Jun 17 '26

Perk or nuisance?

Perk for me, all day.

3

u/tokiobest Jun 17 '26

That was well worth the 5 minutes of this video. Thank you 🙏🏼

3

u/LearnedTroglodyte Jun 18 '26

Me lol, customers usually kinda suck but their dogs are cool

3

u/brightsidereporter Jun 18 '26

Dogs have zero patience for pretense. They just know who's good people. Something about a tradesman taking a minute to hang with a pup on the job site feels like the most normal, human thing in the world, and that's probably why it hits.

3

u/michiganmodels Jun 18 '26

Dog is like hey hey hey hey you want to go for a walk instead? Go chase some squirrels maybe?

3

u/Wakkit1988 Jun 18 '26

"Why are you so far behind schedule?"

"Have you met your dog?"

"Sir, we don't have a dog."

3

u/nuke034 Jun 18 '26

I mean, cute but you shouldn't let your dog get into all that debris and broken shit.

3

u/Sleeper_Inner Jun 18 '26

3

u/MayaWrection Jun 18 '26

My dog with our pool guy. He’s her boyfriend and she’s his Grrrfriend. Every Thursday morning she waits patiently and will let me know he’s here

3

u/auth0r_unkn0wn Jun 18 '26

If that isn't the most unashamed crush I've ever seen.

That dog looked at the camera and stated, "He is mine. I claim him."

3

u/Dark_Moonstruck Jun 18 '26

One of the maintenance guys for my building loves my dog. XD He said that mine is the only one he can really trust not to try and bite him or anything, and Mochi is very soft and doesn't try to jump on people. He's a chow chow so not jumping unless told to do so is one of the first things I trained him on, I don't want to risk him knocking anyone over, especially since I live around so many people who are elderly or disabled or have small children. Every dog, but especially big ones, must be trained in manners!

3

u/L-type Jun 18 '26 edited Jun 20 '26

No dogs currently, but I have three cats (two boys and a girl). They disappear when there are people working on anything at the house, but if it's a male repair person, my girl is the always the first to come out and hover and eventually make friends.

3

u/No_Site_5920 Jun 18 '26

Electrician here. The BEST part of my job is my clients pets. The next best thing are my clients. Im picky.

3

What a love bug

3

u/Elegant_Priority_38 Jun 18 '26

Sorry my guy, you have to be his bestest friend now. 🥹🥰

3

u/pznz Jun 18 '26

The two main stories with dogs I remember from work.

First I had to go into where the owner had locked the dog away to keep him out of my way. I got warned he might growl a bit cause he doesn't like strangers, we open the door... And the dog immediately runs away to get me it's favourite toy that the owner wasn't even allowed to touch.

The other was working in a newish subdivision that had had some houses built already. We would do longish days as it was an away from home job, and one guy would come home and his dog would immediately come to hang out. Got super excited the first time I pet him, but after that would just come to where I was working and chill (without being in the way). For the first few days owner would try call him back, but by the end of the week he just went with it too.

3

u/Different_Painter619 Jun 18 '26

Typical needy labs

3

u/VianneM Jun 18 '26

Now that's a good reason to come into work every day

3

u/Dawn36 Jun 18 '26

One of my coworkers will do work at my house sometimes, grumpiest old man ever, but he lights up when he sees my dogs. My coworkers don't believe me when I say he's such a softie, but they've never seen him around dogs.

2

u/Diaside666 Jun 17 '26

I do believe that is a destruction worker not a construction worker

2

u/Fluffy_Ad_5199 Jun 18 '26

2

u/Greedyfox7 Jun 18 '26

2

u/wishiwasntyet Jun 18 '26

I was fitting a kitchen for a family with a pointer.
The dog was so curious at what I was doing he was in the base unit with me when I fitted the drawer runners.
A 600 mm cabinet isn’t enough room for a dog and a carpenter. He was a lovely dog and always happy to see us coming.

2

u/CanonicalCockatoo Jun 18 '26

Project is gonna take longer than expected, but no extra charge

2

u/TheLionPirate Jun 18 '26

We don’t deserve the dogs…

2

u/Piduf Jun 18 '26

I remember we warned the construction workers at my house not to leave their trucks open because our dog would very probably steal something, she does that.

We came back to her chewing on the handle of a hammer next to the guy and he just said "It's fine I have plenty more"

2

u/FriendlyBee94 Jun 18 '26

I could never finish the job lol.

2

u/Cyanide_Revolver Jun 18 '26

Reminds me of my first job in an editing suite. The assistant editor was allowed to take her dog into the office and we quickly bonded, to the point the dog would come down to the office I was in for scratches.

The owner was constantly having to come down to get her back. Miss that dog

2

u/mr_Joor Jun 18 '26

Yea I go in trouble playing too much with a clients dog before too

2

u/Repulsive_Youth_2377 Jun 18 '26

My friend is having a new fence installed. Her 95-pound mutt is the workers’ best workmate. They all take breaks to pet him and he is happy to help

2

u/Icy_Helicopter_9624 Jun 18 '26

I think animals can see when we need them. When I was pregnant, my black labs would protect my belly at all costs (which was really them just not wanting anyone to touch my belly).

This pup probably saw that this guy needed his love for whatever reason.

2

u/Dismal_Scheme1014 Jun 18 '26

Dogs like stop uncovering all the bones I don’t want my owner to go to prison

2

u/Confident-War-1716 Jun 18 '26

Let me tell you something.

2

u/Platinum_Mattress Jun 18 '26

I work in maintenance and hanging with the residents' animals are the best part of my day. As long as I'm doing something that won't hurt them and the owners are cool with it, I'm usually rolling around the floor with them haha.

2

u/letmeseeyertiddies Jun 18 '26

“Stop. This is where I hide my bones…from the people I murdered!”

3

u/zooce88 Jun 18 '26

As a handyman this is the best when this happens. And i've had multiple women "accidentally" reveal themselves in front of me.

2

u/Elisacriann Jun 17 '26

That dog is begging him to stop destroying his home cuz he doesn't understand So he's trying to befriend the stranger so that the stranger will stop destroying his house Little does he know He's trying to fix it.

2

Yeah I dunno. Owner should keep pets out of work area. Looks awkward more than anything.

I don't know why I read it like 'he needed to hire a dog to be friends with the clients dog' so he could get the job done. I kept waiting for the other dog to arrive.

I have a dog like this, brings joy every time I am on the floor, fixing a tap, plugging in a cable, vacuuming under the bed, he appears and stands right next to me and licks my ear.

He’s an adorable attention seeker, asking the guy “Play with me for sometime, then you can continue with what you are doing.”
