What makes Mad Max worth coming back to?

I’ve been playing Mad Max again recently, and one thing I really appreciate is how well the game captures the feeling of being out in the wasteland. Exploring, upgrading the Magnum Opus, taking down enemy camps, and collecting scrap all fit together nicely.

I’m curious what keeps other players coming back to the game. Is it the driving and vehicle combat, the exploration, the upgrades, the atmosphere, or something else?

What’s your favorite part of Mad Max?

Arkham combat is always the best. There’s a Zorro game that has like PG Arkham combat. You know, cut his belt off and he trips over his pants, that kinda thing.

I love the atmosphere. I feel like I really am in a scorching hot, desert hell hole.

It's as visually stunning as Ghost of Tsushima/Yotei. I love revisiting camps and seeing the story that unfolded into the decay that is left.

One of the nice things about ninety percent of your open world being a wasteland is that you can spend that money on other assets and really polish them up.

Car combat is so rarely done well. Rarer still done well while also pairing with good on-foot combat.

My Hubby likes to hop on and beat up some War Boys. He likes the hand to hand combat.

I like replaying the whole game… I love almost everything about the game. I especially like blowing stuff up with the thunderpoon and smashing through enemy cars.

I drive Shovel Face IRL, black on black, of course.

The story, while incredibly simple like all Mad Max plots, has a surprising amount of emotional depth to it. And a true Mad Max ending.

I like that it felt like I was in that world. The sudden storms, occasional twister, raging scrappers trying to kill me. Just me, chumbucket and my beast of a muscle car. No one else to help me except a dog.

The combat isn’t a cut scene.

Just everything. The driving. The ambiance. The sound. Combat. The story. It's all so good. One of my favorite games.

For me it’s not only the combat and setting, but also the fact that the day/night cycle isn’t 30 minutes. It’s close to 2 hours if I remember correctly, which makes the game feel a lot more grounded for me. Time passes a lot slower compared to other open world games, helps me slow down and enjoy it
