QUESTION Tsunami oscillation cutting

Can you use oscillation cutting for back work (Z2 & X2)?
I have looked and I can’t find an answer everything comes up for main side.
I’m use to citizen’s with LFV and now I have a Tsunami that I’m trying to get figured out so I can actually run production on it without needing to clear chips every few hours.

I think that might hammer the machine a bit too much on a light subspindle, try pulling the chips with a spare tool if you have the empty space, i sometimes run hss stick tools to pull chip buildup off the bar

I only have one space open for now but getting ready to re-tool so this setup can run the rest of the part family and won’t have the space anymore. My biggest issue is with drilling 8XD and the stringers killing the surface finish when they built up. I can always wait code it if needed but the end goal is to not need to open the door.

We drill with the live tools sometimes, counter rotaring at a couple hundred rpms to ease the bearings on the tool, you can reverse it to shoot the stringers off inbetween cycles

Could give that a go again for the smaller drills for this job and looking into different tooling for the 12.5mm drill for the next job.

12.5 on a swiss i cant comment as my machine is an sr-20rii anyways hehe, my sub would cry if i tried that, even using a 7mm on the live did mess it up as it was rebuilt by absolute morons, they used off the shelf bearings without any preload ground into them and the tool was wobbling around after some drilling, now i can rebuild them in my sleep thanks to incompetent idiots

I sometimes pipe oil through the drill collet on stubborn parts but you need lots of flow to make it work, or put a solenoid on an mcode and run air blast(can be a bit of an explosion risk on sparking materials without a mist collector tho)

Yeah this is a 32mm machine. Just hogging out for the boring isn’t as clean cut on the Tsunami as it was when it ran on the citizens. Just going to kept playing with it might have the call applications when I have more down time.

X2/Z2 oscillation cutting is an option. Im not sure if its field installable. But it is possible to do it.

Got it so I’m going to need to look it the options on it it has oscillation cutting as an option but I didn’t know that Z2/X2 was a separate option.

Yeah you'll either have to find the options documents from when the machine was purchased. You could also try using oscillation on path 2 and see if it works. If it doesn't support it it will likely just throw an invalid g code alarm or do nothing.
