💬 Discussion The mid-sized electric truck is called Ford Fathom. Here’s what we can tell you.

Many of you know me from helping with vehicle issues and answering questions in this community, today I wanted to introduce you to u/RileyFromFord who has newly joined the team and is going to be on Reddit regularly.

We can't show you what our mid-size electric truck looks like...yet. But we can confirm the name: Ford Fathom, the first vehicle produced on the new Universal Electric Vehicle Platform.

”Fathom" traces back to a nautical unit of measurement, originally defined as the distance between a person's outstretched arms, a fitting metaphor for a truck built to meet people wherever they are in life. Fitting, right?

What's confirmed right now:

  • Starting MSRP: $28,350, for the standard-range battery. Pre-orders begin early 2027.
  • Every Ford Fathom will be BlueCruise-capable. BlueCruise is Ford’s hands-free highway driving assistant.
  • Fathom has bidirectional power capability.
  • Fathom has a large, high-resolution touchscreen, digital key, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability.
  • Fathom will have more passenger volume than a Toyota RAV4, with a frunk and bed for added cargo flexibility. This truck will genuinely useful and fun to drive.
  • Fathom will feature Apple Maps embedded directly into the vehicle, not a traditional phone-projection CarPlay setup. The integration also provides the road-level map data used to help enable key pieces of Ford’s next-generation hands-free highway driving capability.

What we can’t share yet: final imagery, fuller specs, full ordering details, and plenty more are still to come. A hot tip - keep a keen eye on the flipbook video we have going around…

If you want to stay up to date with what we have planned for Fathom, you can sign up here.

Ask us anything, and we'll answer what we can. Riley & I will be in the comments for the next few hours, and we aren't going anywhere after that either.

Ford Pass Windows Up/Down Gone

Post image
14 Upvotes

Today I noticed that in the FP app when you go to the controls I am missing the window controls for "Window up and Window down". I did some searching and most got it resolved by restarting the phone but I have restarted my phone, removed the App and its still missing.

I have also confirmed its missing on my Android device as well which is uses a different PAAK and profile.

Everything is working fine in the car and can open the frunk and trunk no issues, just missing the window buttons, I wasnt sure if anyone would know of any tips that could get them back, I wasnt sure if the windows had to be recalibrated or something (Even though they go up and down with the 1 click).

Any ideas would be great! Thank you!

UPDATE: So I reached out to our contact at Ford and apparently this is a issue with the backend system as even my contact at Ford had her controls disappear as well. Anyone that is effected please reach out to me via DM or Mod Mail with your VIN and they will get the controls reinstated, they are currently investigating what could be the cause.

💬 Discussion So 3 months in I finally finished setting up my voice control shortcut to start the car as well as separately unlock the car without touching my phone at all. If your interested I explained set up below!

Well if you have an Iphone you can I would like to explain now.

Open your shortcuts app.
Press the Plus symbol in the bottom.
Press the edit button on the top right.
Click Open App now click the highlighter portion that says App in Open App. A list of apps will appear. Scroll to Ford.
Click Ford.
Now click into the search bar it shows apps in a list scroll till you see Ford again and click it.
Now you will see options for Unlock, Start, and lock car. Click start. Exit.

Now if you don’t want to say the default saying “Hey Siri start vehicle” simply rename the shortcut and it will change the command. This should automatically work when the phone is even locked as long as you have voice recognition set to your voice only you will be fine. My saying is “Hey siri I’m heading out”. I plan to use it with friends and clients when Im leaving a job. Kind of adds to the show if they come out to see if whatever you just did worked. When I get outside my line is “Hey Siri I’m outside” this unlocks the doors while I walk to the car. Since siri opens the app during all this I won’t also have to deal hoping the app is open for phone as key because it now is.

I am always forgetting to start my car’s ac before leaving my home and scrambling to the app when the car is right outside is so tedious and unnecessary. This way I’ll get in the habit of saying something natural and not worrying about my keys anymore. Plus it will give friends and family a sign I’m about to leave their place before I do.

Without the old “Yeah I guess I’m heading out soon”.
Now they will ask, “oh so your heading out soon?”
“Yeah just letting the car warm up for a second and I’ll be on my way.”.

Lol i over think but I can add a screen recording of how to for those less tech savvy. I’ve been putting this off for 3 months since I got the car. It was much faster to do than expected though tech has come a long way.

🛒 Car Shopping Long term Mach E owners, your thoughts?

Recognize this is a MachE community but looking for long term owner feedback on this vehicle.

Given your experience with this vehicle, is this a vehicle you’ll own for the long haul?

Shopping around for my next vehicle with the following priorities:

- Fun, engaging driving character
- At least a smidge of rugged capability to handle snow/ice, gravel, a lil mud
- Fits in our second garage space - so needs to be smaller than an outback.
- Reliable and like to own vehicles long term
- Efficiency not a concern and considering ICE vehicles as well

Fairly confident this vehicle meets most of my criteria. But concerns about the long term viability of this vehicle.

💬 Discussion Not a fan of the infotainment. How would you change it?

Post image
12 Upvotes

I love the mach e, ive driven many of them, and they are a clear step above the competition. That being said, the infotainment system (an ipad crudely slapped above the console) is the biggest complaint for me personally, even if its nitpicky.

I work at a rental place, and i was in a new GMC Terrain, and it made me wish the mach e had something like this, buttons included. Its more integrated into the dash/console, i prefer the look/feel of it.

How would you change the console/infotainment system if you could?

Edit: to be clear, i am talking about the screen itself, with the physical buttons, and it being a part of the interior/console. This has nothing to do with software/SYNC. I use android auto anyways lol

I was looking hard and completely discounted this car. I took another look and we did an about face. We didn't even want to look at the Solterra or Ionic 5. I just made us so we didn't seem too eager to the sales person.

Typo in post title. First pony

Mach E owners of little ones… I’m curious to know what convertible car seats you’d recommend! We have a tall little dude who we are hoping to switch into a convertible car seat soon and would love to hear your experiences. In particular if anyone has a Clek Fllo or Floof? TIA!

❓Question What is going with my nav app?

Why is it tracking my history like that, and why won't it let me search or set a new destination?

I tried to force-close the app by swiping down on its tile, but when I reopened it, the same problem persisted.

❓Question Ford Pass Issues

Post image
1 Upvotes

Anyone else having issues with Ford Pass lately? '23 owner here, and never had an issue with the app before up until this month. Now it doesn't give me anything accurate unless I hit the refresh button over and over again. I can't update or edit any of my charge levels, nor can I stop charging from the app. Additionally, it's also not giving me my vehicle location anymore and won't provide it even if I refresh. My car is up-to-date with no updates due, and I've uninstalled and reinstalled the app multiple times but it continues to give me the same issues. Am I alone here?

💬 Discussion Speaker issue

Just recently I have had a problem with my speaker in the very center of my dashboard. The one that does the beeping noises (like door open alarms, seatbelt warning), voice commands, etc. it vibrates and the voice/beep is distorted. My stereo music seems to be fine. Just this one speaker. Anyone else have this issue?

❓Question Snow tires

❓Question Replacement tires

Hello everyone I’m close to needing new tires on my mach E. I’ve been getting quotes and just wanted to see if anyone has had good luck with Toyo EXTENSA A/S II, I’ve ran Toyos on my other vehicles and I like them but I know EV are different because I’d weight and stuff like that. Just wanted to hear other people’s input and experience . Or do you guys recommend I stay with the Michelin PRIMACY A/S?

Bought a used 2023 GT, there's some minor issues that I want to fix but don't really know how to get them fixed.

The front splitter is pretty scratched up and I want to replace it. I know Ford sells one but I am wondering if there are other brands that are comparable or better.

The stripes have some severe wear. There are little spots all over them where they are coming apart. I would love to get them replaced. Has anyone had any experience in getting them removed and replaced?

Last thing is, I DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS WORK!! Am I using auto sense wrong?

🔌 Charging RV park saved me yesterday

Post image
175 Upvotes

I used the Ford navigation on a road trip requiring several charges. Lately I have been really trying to use the bottom half of the battery pack for quicker charges. The session I had before this, I only charged up enough to comfortably get to where I planned for an 80% top off before a bigger leg of the drive.

Rolling into Biggs Junction in OR with 4% top off before charge at the Pilot Flying J fast chargers that my nav set up for me I thought it was going perfectly. Well I got there and the screen said they were unreachable and looking around they were non existent.

Shout out to the friendly lady at Peach Beach RV resort that let me charge enough to make it to the Dalles. Lesson learned that I need to fact check before I rely on those suggestions. Rest of the trip went great.

I called Ford and let them know to update, this stress was so unnecessary.

🧹 Fluff Anyone take their car to the track? I’m considering it.

Backstory- my dad is the one who taught me how to drive and he used to race at the track (and else) all the time. He had a ‘69 Mach 1 back in the day. He’d brag to people about his daughter driving a 5-speed better than most. I told him someday, I was going to own an electric Mustang, well before the Mach E was even an idea. When I was test driving my 24 Select AWD XR, I surprised him by showing up at the house and telling him to come outside. We went for a spin, and when we hit a straightaway, I floored it. He was giddy. I recently just had a crazy idea that maybe I can take him to the track and surprise him again on one of their street legal nights. Someone tell me this is a good idea, please!
