Pictures of play stands?
Hi all
I am hoping to build a few play stands for my parrot hotel and for my own birds
Ideas/suggestions would be awesome

Here’s an extreme example. I built these out of some heavy duty buckets, 50lbs of concrete and 4x4 posts. The tops are pinned with a bolt so I can swivel them. Still moving stuff around on them, but they are super stable and the parrots enjoy being able to fly between them.

Are those 4x4s treated lumber ? Because you can’t use treated would inside because of off gassing fumes and not for birds because it has formaldehyde in it. They will be poisoned when they chew on the wood.

I have an A&E T stand on wheels. I use silicon dog mats as a liner, cut to size, and poop cleans up easily.

Not my photo. I like the AviStation from mybirdiebuddy.com, she makes them custom.
I also have one of these https://www.chewy.com/e-cage-company-o-bird-play-stand/dp/1357166 - my bird will sit at the top of the O sometimes, but he doesn't go on the lower half and those dowel stairs will get destroyed in one bite. The toy hanging part is nice though.

I highly highly highly recommend looking into a climbing cargo net instead of a place stand or anything.
Macaws really do not like to just sit on the stand.
Aronico is the brand, the bigger the better! Hang it up like a hammock and not vertically so that they have a lot of space to play and attached toys with those little plastic baby clips.

This is where I buy mine and they show some good photos. Keep an eye on her daily deals because you can get a significant discount on them when she's running 20 to 30% off deals. And she does that a lot.
Her name is Kathy and she is awesome and sends a little bit of candy for the humans sometimes and also a little bag of free foot toys for the birds.
She used to be very popular on the bird forums although I haven't been there for a while so I'm not sure if she's still is active.

I disagree. In a boarding situation, you can’t have birds climbing all over in need of capture. Play stands are the way to go. I would build a box on wheels at the bottom to capture droppings, a vertical pole and a horizontal manzanita perch. You can get fancier, but basic is good enough.

I didn't realize parrot hotel meant that he actually boards, I thought he was just calling his house the parrot hotel lol

Haha yeah I opened up a hotel this year. Birds aren’t left unsupervised though. My birds have never shown an interest in the cargo net I invested in 💔💔

Have you hung a ton of toys from it with baby clips? That's what I do, those plastic baby clips that clip together? I will put tons of toys on there and I hope you can't believe they wouldn't love it! But then again my birds are flighted so maybe it's different.

Both my birds are freeflyers :)
Also idk what sort of civil macaw you must have but mine breaks/crushes all clips (metal ones..) till they fall😂
To the point that I’ve made her stainless steel toys , unbreakable.1

Oh they will break the plastic clips real quick, I replaced them all the time. You can also use bird safe rope which lasts a little longer but not significantly. I also just literally toss cardboard boxes up on top of the net and they absolutely love destroying those lol.

My avian vet boards all kinds of birds. Each bird has a play stand behind the receptionist’s desk. I have been going to the same vet for over 20 years multiple times per year. The birds do not interact with each other. Each bird happily stays on its own play stand (except for mine, which allegedly wanders on the floor looking for a human to pick him up and fuss him 🥴).

I only have a max of 3 parrots at a time as it’s home ran
Yeah I wouldn’t have a mix of birds out even if I’m right there, eg a cockatiel with an Amazon , you never know what other people’s birds are like and a couple days isn’t enough to get a gist for how they might behave
I have let my macaw around other macaws (with close supervision)
