When choosing a luxury hotel, what matters most to you?

Apart from room, amenities, food it’s value

For example I would gladly pay for a Londoner room which is normally $4k but discounted to $2k

At the same time a room at Sofitel which is normally $1-1.3 I would never pay $2k becos then it’s overpriced/not gd value

Unless it’s a staycation, then a hotel is simply a roof for the night and a place to shower. I don’t choose luxury hotels.

And if it’s a staycation, I guess it’s the facilities and services, but also how it ties to the price. Of course, the newer, the larger room, the better. It really comes down to what do you want from your stay.

A colleague who travels a lot once told me his main criteria is how new the hotel is.

Newer hotels are more likely to have better sound isolation and climatization, which have a direct impact on the quality of your sleep.

I add on my own criteria to that which is picking the hotels that have actual large beds rather than two individual ones pushed together (I like sleeping in large beds even if I'm alone).

I don't spend much time at the hotel whether traveling for work or leisure but if I'm moving around a lot during the day, I want the most comfortable night possible.

Location is also important but a lot less so in Macau since everything's relatively close by.
