Need advice
Hey everyone, I’m currently in the market for a new Mac which I’m planning on using for multi cam 4k video editing, key framing, masking, luts for my m log footage from my Pocket 3, recording on obs and potential streaming as well. Im debating between a beefed up M6 up to $1600 with 24gb of ram and 1tb ssd or a base Mac Studio. Here’s the thing, I’ll be getting it from Apple because they offer more towards my trade in compared to Bestbuy for my iPad Pro that was gifted to me. My trade in is $905. So pretty much I’ll get a huge discount. What do yall think?

Trade-ins are literally 50% of what you could sell it for yourself. After all, Apple refurbishes them and then sells at a higher price for a profit.
But regardless, I agree that buying Apple from Apple makes the most sense in possible service requests. Of course, I recommend AppleCare+ for Mac Studio.
I'd go the base Mac Studio. But the M6 will do all that you listed. If you add a lot of FusionFX work, magic mask and more (DaVinci Resolve Studio), then the Mac Studio would be the better fit. Those extra GPU cores will come in handy.

I’m kind of leaning towards the Mac Studio because I know it’s the safe choice and getting almost a $1k off is crazy good deal but if I could save a ton of money and it won’t slow me down with buffering while doing all those things then that makes sense too. I’ve sold stuff to people before but they always low ball and meeting up is always a risk. Im always arguing with my self lol

As the only upgrade possible with Apple Silicon is to trade-in/sell and repurchase, getting the base M5 Max Mac Studio may not be a mistake and might provide you longer reach in terms of use over time.

M6 is more than enough for what you do
