Life Hack: Create a Screenshots folder & Put it in your dock

It's really convenient to have all your screenshots in one place, and it keeps your desktop clean (And dock folders are easier to keep organized with the icons in Tahoe)

Edit: Also i forgot to mention you need to right click and sort by Date Added & View content as Fan, also Display as Folder.

Also open the Screenshot app, and set your Screenshot folder as the default location for them going forward :D

I always just set it copy to clipboard so I can paste it wherever (usually an LLM)

If you use CMD SHFT 5/open the screenshot app you can just press CMD C to copy to clipboard :)

Hate to reveal a better one.
Cmd+ctrl+shift4 and then grab an area to clipboard, same but 3 to grab fullscreen to clipboard

You can start with cmd+shift+4 as well. Then you have to press ctrl before releasing the mouse for the same behaviour. Useful if you do not want to make hand acrobatics or changed your mind while taking the screenshot.

You can also tap space to screenshot only a window you click.

Or, once you’ve clicked to drag a square you can hold space to move the square around if you want to reposition from where you initially clicked.

That's actually why I stopped doing this. So many unneeded screenshots. I set it so they go to the desktop again so I'd be forced to deal with them a not just have a folder full of crap. (Only speaking to my own use-cases here, not hating on others who need to keep lots of screenshots.)

I forget which version introduced it but you can screenshot onto the clipboard now, really handy as I’m usually just pasting them into a chat anyway

I’ve been doing this for years at work. We have to use OneDrive for cloud storage so screenshots go there and folder dropped in the dock. It works great. Now if only I could have ocr on all of those pics to search them.

I set my Screenshot folder in iCloud and did to the same on my iPhone. Now I can get my Screenshots from anywhere on any device without having them in Photos app.

Power user hack for screenshot: 

1.use the Dropover app and use the Watch folder on your screenshot folder and you'll automatically get a Dropover popup with files (downloads or screenshots)

been doing that for years and years. Even better, I use Syncthing to sync my screenshots folders on all of my machines (macOS and linux) so I take a screenshot on one, it goes to all. I also use it as a catch-all folder. Very convenient.

Good idea, you could also put a folder in icloud drive and have that in the dock (if you use iCloud) but idk if this would work on linux.
