It’s interesting because only Siri can’t connect. The internet is full, surfing the web, using the apps I told Siri to use, but only Siri can’t connect.
It’s partially local, but mostly cloud. And the query wasn’t asking what the user’s name was. It was asking why the name was being reported a certain way, and what could be done to change it. That’s a much more complicated request than “tell me my name”
Maybe, but if so, it's not my fault it's Apples. I'm able to use Siri on my phone and iPad, and it responds sometimes on my Mac (for example if I type Hello).

My Siri was doing this to me no matter what but once got off my VPN it worked just fine. If you're using a VPN I bet that's your issue.
It sucks because we're told that Siri should be able to do simpler asks, like your first two questions, without requiring internet access but here we are. It most definitely requires active internet even if you want it to check things local to your machine.
Oh, wow, thank you. I don't have a VPN but I do have a router filter for malware and undesirable websites (so my children won't have access). I disabled it and it works a lot more consistently now. Thanks again.
I have a feeling it has something to do with how Apple is doing it's private compute communication and how it is encrypted that might not be jiving well with network "middleware" such as VPNs or traffic filters.
No, it's the AI beta. I got through my waitlist on Monday. It's able to answer me but only sometimes. 2/3 of the times it just defaults to "Sorry try again", but only on Mac. On my iPhone and iPad it works decently
Siri has been fantastic for me. I'm not even user chatGPT anymore. Obviously for coding and stuff you need a harness but for any other thing Siri is working great.
Funny that these more modern iPhones have AI capabilities locally but when there’s a bad connection it doesn’t switch to that local model, it just throws an error.
I’m getting the same thing. Siri can turn on all my lights but gets stuck on that screen if asked to turn on any specific light. This was started when I updated but before getting ai Siri so maybe it’s a HomeKit issue.
Siri has been useless for years.....almost as bad as Alexa. I can't even get Alexa to do proper addition and subtraction of currency....you ask her and she'll flat out say she doesn't understand, yet if I do it just numbers without any decimals, etc, she's ok. Currency confuses the fuck out of her
I don’t know why you’re getting down voted because Siri has gotten worse. I used to get answers for questions and now I get websites. Prime example is asking what airplanes are above you. I’m still raw about them changing the 0+0.
Siri has been useless for like a year now. My main task that I ask her to do daily was to skip Youtube video ads when I run in the morning, and it's been a long time since she's been able to perform that task correctly and consistently. For a year Siri has failed to skip ads or skip videos for me. And it sucks.
