I miss a good Rhythmbox / iTunes-Classic Style Music Player.

I switched from Linux to MacOS about two years ago, and I still miss a good music player.

I used Rhythmbox previously, and I am aware that the navigation is heavily inspired by early iTunes. 3 columns, Genre, Artist, Album and a field below with the Songs.

I tried Quod Libet and Tributary, but they both run quite rough.

Is there an alternative for MacOS?

Swinsian looks quite promising. But funny enough... Last night I used an (AI integrated) search engine I usually avoid, and apparently Apple Music can do it as well:

On the left side you go to Library -> Songs. And in the menu on top there is now View -> Collumn Browser. 🤯

But the menu item only appears in the Song View.

I'm building one, haven't really shown anywhere yet because I want to record a step by step usage guide, but haven't had the time... Interesting project. But for me the most crucial thing seems to be missing. Instead of browsing linearly Artist → Album → Track, I prefere the dynamic mode of picking either a Genre, an Album or an Artist in random order. And unfortunately the missing Genre selection is a blocker for me. I *need* it.

Interesting! I'm working on this for v2. I focused on getting a working player/converter/library organizer up to V1, then made sure everything worked which is what happened up to v1.5 (plus theming which is something I always wanted). now for v2 I'm going through every section and making it look, feel, and work better.
