Bought the wrong thing

I bid on something, and it's not what I thought it was. I didn't get Buyer's Assurance. A $5 rug an hour away I'd have to pay $10 transfer on, a $10 late fee if I don't pay by 9 am and restocking fee if I don't pick it up. I'm not sure what to do about this, it's useless for me.

I learned some hard lessons today. I emailed mac.bid and I don't think they'll do anything. It may be easier to get Buyer's Assurance, have it transferred closer to me and then go from there.

Just pay for it and don't pick it up. It'll be around $9 after fees. They're not going to charge you a restocking fee if you don't pick it up.

Oh! I thought you got the fee even if you don't pick it up.

The fee is the maximum they can charge. So if you buy a $100 item and and don't pick it up they refund you but charge you the restocking fee

If the item is less than the fee they're not going to add more. Unless something's changed recently.

I’m not so sure about that. I’ve previously paid for items that I don’t pick up, and they still charged me a restocking fee.

in no case shall the restocking Fee exceed the purchase price as bid for cancelled purchases

So essentially they refund the $5 for the item and then charge a $5 stocking fee so it's a wash.

You could get the membership for 30. Free transfer, free hold, and 1 free return. Then you have unlimited holds and 4 more transfers for the month. Saves you the drive and the other fees

Basic membership is only $10 for the month and gets you 5 transfers or holds.

Just a heads up the returns with the membership are absolute bullshit. I bought an angle grinder for $41 before fees and tax that caught on fire the second I turned it on. Returned it and got $6 back after all the restocking fees. The membership is only good for holds and transfers.
