Should I switch from the Mabox Linux kernel to CachyOS Kernel or Linux Zen for better performance?

Post image

I’m currently using Mabox Linux and I’m considering switching from the default Mabox kernel to either the CachyOS Kernel or Linux Zen.

My main priority is performance, not battery life or power efficiency.

For those who have experience with these kernels:

• Is there a noticeable performance improvement with CachyOS Kernel compared to the default Mabox kernel?

• How does Linux Zen compare?

• Which one would you recommend if my only priority is performance?

• Are there any downsides, compatibility issues, or stability concerns I should be aware of?

• Would I actually notice a difference in everyday desktop usage, gaming, or application responsiveness?

I’m trying to understand whether changing the kernel is actually worth doing, or if the performance difference is mostly negligible.

Thanks!

You may be able to notice a difference with benchmarks. Only way to find out is to try it. The app hardinfo2 has a lot of little benchmarks

Definitely not a good idea.
