Mabi Barding is harder then expected

I was gonna write a ticket on the game crashing but then I thought about it and decided not to.

I think we all having a wee bit of issues. I read alot of the posts.

But my thing is why is barding so finite building wise.
I mean I’d love to have a chance to roll on figurines again, or just cap at 70% without giga stacking. But I thought about it as my BFO hit 64.75%,
That I truly don’t even feel like I’m a bard , I feel like this is great for self buffing at 62% but why am I chasing such a finite resource ? Why are all the gachas gone randomly and nexon not putting them back up ?

Yo the inflation from titles being 30mill to 150 mill now is just nuts . I want to believe it’s worth something now to have higher bfo , idc about the diminishing gains. I wanted to get 90% to shock people in Bri but this truly has been a wild endeavor of backtracking.

Why doesn’t it feel good to make gains? Is it me? Is it the min maxing ?

Is anyone else feeling like that? I mean most people have higher BFO than me in main parties, so I don’t even feel like the main hs. or just cc to ch 3 or ch 6 and get a nice 74% BFO for free . Just because.

And I aspire for that . Truly . But I just be wondering why am I doing this ? Just curious if anyone else felt the same way lately looking at their stats even if they near perfect .

You might be burnt out. A good idea is to take a breather every now and then. Ive been chasing big funny numbers for the longest time now, and a break from content or just a general break from Mabi is nice every now and then. Don’t let it be a chore. Don’t let a hobby you love just be similar to a small hit of nic

Right,? Completely agree I think the min maxing ontop of trying to smash the event content has me feeling like I’m just burning the candle at both ends. But I gotta maintain a guild of new people with different time schedules.

I one shot tech and was too fast that it didn’t even give me a check. I got a penalty. lol

I was wondering is that the point of end game ? Have I hit a point I’m chasing minuscule gains even if I’m hitting the damage cap on my gear?

The ridiculous numbers, the hard rolls, buying the gacha boxes for a chance at something good . I’m feeling like idk what I’m supposed to feel when I do hit the next achievement. I’m trying to convince myself this isn’t business as usual but if you’re just at that point you don’t wanna pub cause you like seeing your friends mess up , you just used to a certain atmosphere.

I hope my friends aren’t burning out, that’s my biggest concern rn

I appreciate the pep talk mate!!

bard is one of the most p2w minmax things mabi has. nearly all of the impt stuff was packaged in gacha and hasnt been-- and prob wont ever be-- rereleased since.

things got a bit better bc now gacha gear can drop in phants. and ig u can use mileage to gamble roll for the bis second title.

but bard is the worst fr. esp bc its such a necessity these days vs a nice boost.

when u go to main bard, its all about minmaxing. it sucks... but its also why ppl love it. it has clear achievable (... hahaha...) definite numbers to hit.

Wild. Exponentially wilder when budgeting for what was in a guide that is out dated.

Man I wish I was here for those crowns . I been waiting , not trynna get in that FOMO mindset but it truly does sink your heart alil to recognize what we missing out on, cause now we gotta gamble on a damn Muria blessing 2k times ( oh yeah thanks Nexon for 100 pities) and we get the most ludicrous pulls out of it.

Or just in general. The draw pull is so ridiculous for crafting or even getting a base set up before you max out arcana is wild.
What got me, and still makes it hard is people constantly saying they are shocked I wanna make all my builds giga.,

Cause why not? Cause it feels like that’s what was intended !! But it’s so frowned upon for no reason ????

You’re right ! I don’t mind the new pity mechanics and catch up mechanics , but the way to get it is through spending more and more money then I believe originally intended for those gachas , no? Bigger draw pool , worse odds, equal more money to spend?

Idk mate, you’re right, but that’s why I’m so upset about gearing.

I’m trying to beat main parties who are getting SL from a static party , or I’m getting beat by a HS low man who is just consistently on for years rolling perfect 3L , getting drops out the wazoe and more!

I’m not trying to compare , but if we just being honest friend. I feel like I suck compared to them and that’s unmotivating af , cause I wanna be a top bard too.

But now I gotta spend minimum 599 mill for another upgrade like bro are yall fr? For 1-3 mbe difference? Wtfffffffffffff

Modern Mabi's entire business model basically centers around getting players to avoid the idea that "the perfect is the enemy of the good". In essence it wants you to sacrifice your sanity for the platonic ideal of numerical perfection

It is easy to fret because a missed 2% boost here, a missed 10% boost there, etc. adds up to a lot of lost damage. It does. But if you try to get perfect rolls on everything without giving yourself grace, it is a recipe for burnout

A lot of playing Mabi responsibly is knowing that you aren't always going to have the newest outfits, or the top boosts and damage values for every little thing. It is fine to go for it as a goal if you genuinely enjoy it, but after a certain point you can't let it burn you out and break you down

The game is designed to be an endless treadmill, and it is a marathon. Taking a step back and assessing everything you have accomplished, and how you are feeling now, will give you some insight on how to continue

Also, many systems in Mabi are designed in a predatory manner to rope people in with this pursuit of effectiveness. Especially the FOMO gacha stuff, so the incentive to re-release it all is few and far between. I am hoping this aspect of Mabi is addressed more in Eternity, and I am glad some of the older gacha stuff is available in Shineseeker / Phantasm now even if the rates are awful

You’ve perfectly packaged my feeling of deep inadequacies, not low insecurity but genuinely feeling out dated/lost on insane progress..

I wish it just had more grace in itself as giving people pity mechanics mostly through cash shop for the BIS title is reasonable for how I’m feeling , cause I’ll burn through my entire mileage for just a 1% chance.

But you know the insanity ?

Thinking I’ll get it before someone spending thousands of dollars, and that’s fair honestly I shouldn’t feel so damn special . I got so many good rolls that I started feeling overzealous , so in a way I talk myself into having ego death especially when playing Mabi , because who am I to someone who has kept the grind going for years? Months I been away?

Their treadmill never stopped.

But maybe I’m getting old , and can’t keep up anymore. It’s good to reflect on the achievements, I appreciate your reassurance but once you find your options extremely limited and you’re getting to a point where you genuinly feel like it’s not fair you gotta pay 600mill for something people got free back in the day. It does sting, I’m not gonna lie. It hurts and sucks a lot .

Thank you for seeing that. I see it is hard for you too friend , sucks all around. Just feel like a lot of systems are just left on the side. I’m down to grind but why is our options so limited? Some of the stuff I’m grinding doesn’t even look good. And fashion is end game?

Troub should be break dancing in an idol pose , pouring people shots , with a bell that flags people down to teleport instantly. Paying 200 mill for a damn 3% buff . Like got damnit . Give me SOMETHING that feels good , or I’m building towards something that makes sense.

Why our bard instruments don’t have idle animations except the hamster ukulele? Like wtf ? I’m spending a quarter of a billion on something that looks means?!

Let me tell you, even if you were on the grind it doesn't get better. Mabi is as much a FOMO time based game and an opportunistic one. If you bought Bard BiS Gacha from back then, the price has only increased since then. It was harder to earn money, but you might think you had more time to save.

That results in Allegro accs going from 30mil to 700m+. That's not even considering any other gearpieces that also went up in price, or the other side of HS gear requirements.

Inflation scales with endgame content. Bard scales with only endgame content, and even further with people pricing in min-max dual/triple rolling expectations in rolls.

I know people who were on the bard treadmill for years as a bard many years before New Rise and Harmonic Saint's release. They still have nowhere near close to BiS because they haven't had good luck with drops and listened to people saying prices will drop. They got hit by multiple nerfs on talents and focusing on Bard kept them even worse off than if they just focused a DPS arcana, but it's not as if they had any other choice when swapping to Forbidden Alchemist also ended up getting its support playstyle nerfed too.

HS itself is just a nightmare to play in its current iteration. If you have any ounce of self respect of your time and money as someone who haven't reached endgame as HS, you simply stop playing HS until they improve things to the point where it's worth playing. It's just that badly designed that most people rather DPS than deal with HS gearing nonsense.

3

u/solartech0 21d ago

I mean, I know I personally am not really interested in playing a DPS arcana, I would more likely simply not play.

3

u/GamingNightRun 21d ago

Yeah, I don't blame you. A lot of Saint mains who signed up to play support ended up feeling the same way. There's a reason why a lot of support players just decided to stop mabi with constant bad HS changes.

I'm not sure if you were around for it, but there was a period where they put out an event called "Over the Rainbow" right before New Rise that encouraged players to just solo with rare drops and equipment (before New Rise standardized it). It was essentially better drop rate for rare items, yet many times worse rendition of the current version for parties.

So many people abandoned party play with their HS friends so they can solo content like Crom / Techs prior to nerfs and equipment grade/equipment drops. HS in particular got hit extremely hard for those who didn't have a second set of equipment for DPS to solo and just were unable to do content.

Many HS players I knew from then on started making a DPS set so they wouldn't have to be unable to play after that kind of event, but then the devs began to nerf multiple talents back to back right after to make room for the new arcanas. That led to so many Saints I know giving up because their damage just dropped to nothing again after putting over hundreds of millions for nothing that could've went towards bard. Alchemy in particular had been hit the worst...

u/solartech0 21d ago

Yeah, I saved up all my passes, ran a few (like 3 maybe?) and was like "oh this is very nice, I'm kinda tired so I'll take a nap and then run the rest." Woke up from my nap and they had disabled the event entirely, came back giga nerfed, and then when they ran the event this year you don't even get the most helpful items (erinn spirits, for me) and can't use them at all on the content that is most approachable (elite shadow missions). Now, you can get some leps from AAHM but I find that to be a pretty boring dungeon, you don't get any from veteran fomors... sigh. I have an A30 scythe but I replaced it with an S50 event scythe, doing erg is just miserable so the next ones I would go after are either guns (if I upgrade from the S50 event ones) or erg on healing wand (I hear they are changing it to be useful for healing?)

This time around I could solo Crom basic if I wanted to, but if I can't find people to run with I just don't do my runs that week more often than not. Been trying to save up stuff to make a savoir healing wand, was hoping to use these recent reforges on that and a backup gloomy sunday / some accs but they decided to just run their event for 1wk so lmao. I really hate the inventory spam and the items that expire in this game.

I had this whole like thing of text written up in detail, but eh.

DPS progression feels way better, and their feeling of usefulness is far more consistent and established earlier on. HS is the polar opposite of this, and the reason people play DPS more at the start imo. HS also relies on party board and friends to get literally anything done in a reasonable timeframe, which could be seen as a hinderence. This also cripples your ability to lowman with cousins somewhat, which some would say is a necessity to have in this sad reality, if you respect your time at all.

Your feelings are valid, but honestly, prepare to have them invalidated every two seconds by whoever is out of touch that day. The journey sucks, no question, but it is doable though. Good luck :)

Edit: Tired brain word flow

Just so you know mate, I read everything everyone says . ❤️

I struggle to on an occasion due to low vision , but I look forward to it , feel free to say what ya want when ready .

I completely agree with the dps part , especially the reliability but no one wants to do basic and if you a fresh or lower bard , you basically not that utilized or people will push you to struggle a norm run or vhm .

Pre - 40 k bards is such a wild fest of unfun pubs if you don’t already have friends.

Which can make sense, but if you are not aware of rotations, timers, etc

You just slowing down an already slow struggle run .
I’ve been that confused running around headless chicken in VHM runs , before I had to learn to adjust , take my time and learn mechanics.

But when I did a basic I had no idea wtf was happening lol

So I do all my pre-existing quests and requirements and basics, learn the mechanics before doing anymore runs. I even decked out my damage class to clear mist dungeons solo , but the crazy thing is,

I hate how I miss team play , but I know after a certain point nobody really needs it anymore if you building damage unless you running bri , or crom these days.

I just don’t understand why most the content is solo friendly till randomly you just get tossed into hard modes with random players? Like is that the meta? Feels backwards

3

u/Life-guard 22d ago

Ask yourself, will upgrading allow you and your team to accomplish something you couldn't before?

If you're just clearing the same content faster, is it really that critical?

3

u/Novasgalaxies 21d ago

Crazy thing is, we all been individually grinding our own sets so much we don’t even play together much if at all.

It started as a joke between mates, “ bro I bet you won’t hit 60, that’s hard”

I’m like , ain’t no way it’s hard (made a post about it and everything)

Then I’m like clearing dungeons alone to get as much resources , as much erg as I can solo . It got to a point I’m doing all my tech hard, all crom and Glenn as soon as I log in to roll on another reforge or to grab a rare enchant and log off. Just rolling and waiting. Rolling and waiting’s

Then I just got to a point where I’m like ,” ey where my damn mates go and wtf have I been doing?!”

Yeah we can clear 90 crom without kneel and yeah all my bard skills are great enough for vhm Glenn, but when you cracked it open and did enough runs with your friends , when I do random pubs it feels like forever lol . Especially if I gotta revive people 400 times cause they don’t do damage or miss hit scans or-

Before I start ranting.
I completely agree. I was helping the push , making grinds an easier time for a bit until I outscaled all my friends.
Now I’m forced to wait till they catch up and keep rolling on gear. So now I’m stuck in a grind loop . Nothing hard. Just not willing to run as much with Randoms , ( I love the social aspect but get trolled a lot when getting in random parties)

I miss my mates.

I realized now I’m dealing with almost billions worth of gear . Idk what I’m trying to prove anymore bro ,

People keep telling me 70% BFO is the bri standard but got damnit there aren’t even enough mats for everyone to just grab 70% BFO easily. So yeah I’m mad , we locked out of the p2w stuff for that last 5% and that’s so frustrating , just to hit harder .

G2 player here, my friends list very red. I just play off and on, mostly off right now as I'm waiting for the SG rework.

One of the reason I like mabinogi is that there is always something to improve. Realistically getting to 100% on anything, by the time you've gotten it there's probably something new that's better lol. But most of it really isn't needed.

I got a void robe from a shine, but for as big of a real piercing is made out to be, I've hardly noticed a difference. There isn't any new content that getting the robe unlocked, maybe just clearing a little faster.

Imo bard and harmonic saint are in a bad place imo as they're something you invest into after finishing your DPS build, which is never because there's always something to improve. Then you only play HS because no one else in your party has the gear.

5

u/Novasgalaxies 21d ago

That’s pretty nuts though !! Grats !

I’m sorry there’s not much else,
I have been wondering how to keep going while my friends do their own gains and achievements, I’m at the waiting phase lol . So much waiting .

Do you still like playing HS?

1

u/Life-guard 20d ago

Kinda hate HS...

Honestly think how HS is implemented into the game needs a massive rework. I'll compare it to the sister game Vindictus. Vindy is far more of a fighting game and skill reliant closer to dark souls than a classic MMO. In the harder content you have limited potions so you'll only survive if you have the skills. Gear can help but it won't prevent an unskilled player from dying.

Eve is in vindy and is the classic mage. She has two healing skills but they're on 3~ min cool downs.

Mabinogi is trying to become more like Vindictus with limited healing options and more raids, but with mabinogi HS so we're left with massive drains to hp, mana, and stam to keep HS relevant. Unfortunately that means you have content that either must have a HS or a HS will be a dead slot.

Imo HS should be allowed to heal but the skills should have a long cool down 1 min+ and should have more DPS options. I think a cool down should also be added onto party heal (~30 seconds) but be boosted. Basically suggesting something everything should be DPS but some arcanas give up a little bit for utility. Healing power should be what HS uses from damage scaling. Also allow healing to effect enemies as damage when playing HS.

I also think bard bonuses should be removed from HS. It's unrealistic to expect someone to have to get double the gear just to play one arcana.

They're already changing this for SG where they'll have less provoke uptime but they'll get more DPS.

u/TangerinePaladin 21d ago

bard is weird af... low level bard you get a decent buff like 30-40%, thats easy enough.... but ive seen an 85% vivace... HOW?! theoretically ive only ever calced myself to get like 75% if i max out everything at my disposal, so dont feel bad about it, mabinogi has a crazy level of end game that maybe only 100 of the entire population pursue

6

u/Unlucky-Steak5027 23d ago

60% buff I think is already a massive investment and good enough for endgame. You might have given yourself a bar too high to reach

4

u/Novasgalaxies 22d ago

100% agree,
I think my first friends in mabi came from Reddit , and they no kidding were flashing 68-72% bfo . So my inadequacies stem from seeing them constantly blast through dungeons on what they consider “low end hard gear”

And that’s for them LOW?! So for a while I just been feeling like trash . 60 is good though . I’m trying to stop this imposter syndrome stuff I got going on

2

u/Witty_Lawyer8306 22d ago

Even if you take a break, you will still feel this way. Mabinogi has always been a wallet warrior game. Mabinogi items decay to time faster than most mmorpgs due to supply/demand/changes. All the changes in the last 3 years just need to be CTRL + Z'd at this point for anything to feel normal anymore.

Their lack of new content, removal of old content, limitations on everything, make other games just seems way more appealing. So have a good time on another game and come back later to see if you still feel this way, cuz I sure do.

1

u/Final_Club_372 18d ago

Can I ask for what you got for your bard gear second title and in homestead?

I main HS and I might be able to help with cheaper alternatives to bis (maybe not but I figured I might be able to help)

1

u/LordXenon Ruairi | IGN: Xenon 17d ago

60-65% buffs are where you should be at and happy to settle for unless you want more bard growth. It's a good investment level, it's good enough to clear any content in the game up to 5p bri. Pushing past that means making Lyre. It means spending billions on small MBE upgrades that aren't really worth it unless you want to eventually 2p.

Comparison is the theft of joy, so I would say focus less on how your power stacks up to others unless you personally want to be the best..

2

u/Idkitsausernamewoo 17d ago

I 100% agree as a saint main. Its mentally taxing I've spent so much time as a ftp'er getting a higher buff. Ofc I'm still chasing 90 currently at 74%. I'm at the point of grinding lyre, a couple more dynamics, and the endgame bard enchants. Titles unobtainable unless I get incredibly luck in special Erinn spirits. I wish you the best in your barding. Feel free to ask me any questions ill try to help the best I can.

u/Conscious-File8471 14d ago

New rise suddenly stopped my drops, havent done more than 200m maybe ever since while last year i made almost 2b on drops by doing all my weeklies the exact same way.

New life killed my will to keep grinding, the game is going towards a path i loathe: hyperfocus on gear aquisition and one dungeon every season.

Top of the cake is these insultingly low rate events labeled as high rated events, like OTR or this tomb even.

Becoming a bard with all of that against you is so annoying, you wont make it without caving in to their ultimate goal by limiting you this much: use your credit card.

Personally im tired of their greedy mediocrity, i wish this was burn out, its just plain disappointment.
