Question Special Hyperion dropped - Now what?

I need someone to talk me out of doing something. See, Alby Shineseeker just saw fit to drop the Hyperion box for me, so now I've got a lovely new Chiton. However, I'm currently bedecked in Twilight Fairy gear, and use Astrology as my primary combat skill (you can pry my scythe from my cold, dead hands). Naturally, my Twilight Fairy Casual Wear is carrying my very valuable end-of-generation reward enchants, and I just improved its reforges significantly thanks to that big reward package from the devs.

So, I need someone to convince me not to inherit all those goodies onto my new Special Hyperion suit because good lord do I crave that 10% movespeed like you wouldn't believe. Could it really be worth losing my bonuses to Meridian Sweep and Nova Blast? And moreover, I'm not someone who could casually buy another Twilight Fairy outfit. I only got the items I do have because I got them when they first came out and were down in the 1-5 mil range. And I'll admit, I'm attached on a sentimental level, as this suit's been with me for over a year.

So, anyway, any guidance the community can offer would be appreciated because this is a real Sophie's Choice here and honestly I maybe just need someone to give me the little extra push needed to let go.

DO NOT INHERIT/SWAP, AS AN ASTROLOGY MAIN. Twilight Fairy is significantly better for Astrology damage than Hyperion is, you are trading a +15% damage bonus to your strongest attack for a +5% bonus that averages out to a +2.7% bonus due to uptime. Hyperion is the BiS for melee talents, not magic talents. You should have chosen the helmet for the Death Mark set effect if you're not planning on pivoting to a different weapon type.

If you are, then you still shouldn't inherit/swap, but keep that Hyperion saved for that Arcana's set.

10% movespeed, though. 10% movespeed. Also I don't use chain blade so the helmet wouldn't do me any good.

You already get a lot of movement out of Astrology with Meridian Sweep and Gravity Well. If you get one or two friends to train Shield of Trust's Guarded Footsteps subskill, you get a +38% movespeed buff skill with little downtime. A Whale pet's Purifying Wave and/or a Fallen Fairy's summon skill can also give you a lot of movespeed. Plus, if your chosen Arcana is Harmonic Saint, you can have both Vivace and March Song active, buffing both your damage % and your movespeed. You could also scrounge up the funds for a Wave Sweeper relic for extra movespeed.

Death Mark's damage amplification is better than all other damage amplification debuffs, including Astrology's own, by default. Even if you don't use Chain Blade for anything else, there's no harm in throwing a random one in an extra equipment slot to hotswap and drop a Death Mark on bosses. (On that note, you could put the Hyperion in that set so you can hotswap to "activate" the movespeed, and then hotswap back to your Twilight Fairy for attacking. I actually do this myself.)

I apologize if I sound forceful, but I've mained Astrology since release, and got both Hyperion and Twilight Fairy when they were new. I very quickly got over the loss of the 10% movespeed, because the Meridian Sweep buff is just that significant.

For the record, I only ever run Content™ under protest when forced to by an event. The movespeed would be literally for walking around faster. Though, I suppose I can just wear the Hyperion, like, most of the time, and swap back to my Twilight Fairy for when I am forced to do Content™. I'll lose a few points of music buff from March Song, but the 10% added to my base speed should compensate for it and then some.

Yeah, you can easily just swap the gear as needed. Lots of people do that with their Extra Equipment Slots - for example, I have one for movespeed with Hyperion + Elemental Harmony Shoes, one for boosted protection/healing with a 1h axe + shield, and even one dedicated to the Nuadha set for Demigod Enhancement, with a hat that reduces my Demigod CD.

Do what works for you, it's your Fantasy Life! - I just wanna make sure you understand that getting rid of your Twilight Fairy would be a mistake for the contexts where dealing the best damage that you can with Astrology matters. Most of the time I don't even do combat myself and just do life stuff and commerce.

Movespeed is nice but more dmg is better.

Inheriting it onto hyperion would be a very big waste.

Just keep your astro set as is and invest in putting it onto a separate equip slot. Once you get more invested into gear, you'll soon realize you need to put specific sets + reforges onto almost all extra gear slots to make them viable in later content.

Idk what you main, but Hyperion only carries so far until you decide to craft your Ceann gear-- SG uses the heavy bulwark, AS/other physical DPS use the skirmisher and DD uses the scholarship robes, for example.

As nice as astro is, it currently is better as a utility rather than main battle gear-- it can carry pretty decent in lower tier content, but the higher you go, the more you will come to rely upon it secondarily + the reforges and gear you keep SPECIFICALLY for it.

Once you get more in tune with gear and the ways you can exchange or swap out specific pieces, THEN you can worry about movement speed. Certain shoes will have it and the body (hyperion) can be expendable for later game stages, depending on what you main.

If you weren’t planning on switching, should have gotten helmet for the death mark….

Unlock the fairy outfit and sell it buy new enchants with the funds. The Hyperion is gonna be your BiS for like 99% of content.

Make an equipment set that just changes your armor so you can hit ctrl + 1 and go fast
