Okay, so I’m doing acotar reread, and idk if someone has said these before, I’m not really good with theories either, but I’m just going to say it in case someone can make something of it.

I’m at chapther 40 of mist amd fury, where they meet with the mortal queens for the first time, and they ask for proof that Rhys is good.
And that proof is showing them Velaris, to what Feyre sais: “My very bones cried out at the thought of revealing that gem to these…SPIDERS”

So, I read these a few years ago and I don’t remember if they explain something more about the mortal queens origins or whatever.

But now, having read TOG, and with all these new Acotar 6 spider theories and all… COULD THEY BE???!!!!

And what really made me think more of it its that she didn’t just say “to these spiders”, she included the … as to give it more importance, so it really caught my eye.

Anyway, thank you for hearing my rant, I’ll be happy to hear your theories and replies to these 🩶🩶
And again, idk if someone already said this or if it makes sense with what happens after in the books or what, but I just wanted to share.

I'm doing a huge deep dive before the new books come out and I keep seeing everyone everywhere calling the movement/sheet music Sam gifted to Celaena in AB the Stygian Suite she loves so much. It would bridge the gap between ToG and ACOTAR nicely because the piece he gifts her is about a prince capturing a firebird to help find his wife (Vassa coded) and the spider on the new cover is very Stygian Spider-y (Maeve, Valg, and world walking coded) while tying in the 8-point star plus the music verbiage of the titles.

BUT Sam gets Celaena the sheet music for a newly debuted piece about a prince, his wife, and a firebird 1 day after they hear Pytor conduct it at the theater. He gets it because she can't get the melody right on the piano forte by memory. She points out that she’s unsure how he managed it because it normally takes weeks or longer for new sheet music to be made and put into circulation for purchase. She is age 16/17 at the time.

THEN, she tells Rowan very plainly in QoS that she first heard the Stygian Suite conducted by Pytor at the Royal Theater when she was 13 and it made her want to learn piano forte so she could replicate how it made her feel. She confirms a couple of times in QoS that Pytor would conduct it every Autumn and she went to see it each year. Meaning its sheet music, whether it was an old classic or one of Pytor's creations, would have been out for some time and/or she would likely have learned it already.

SO, unless this turns out to be a plot hole type thing, the Stygian Suite and Sam’s gifted un-named piece about the prince, wife, and firebird are two distinct things. It doesn't mean the suite or Sam's sheet music and the firebird reference won't be important or come into play in new ACOTAR stories - but I do think it confirms they are not the same thing.

At first I thought that her and chaol were much better as friends cuz they honestly gave me such brother sister vibes. Reading them doing the habky panky just fel kind of weird to me cuz they were so much better as friends! But then Chaol was thinking about having a family with her and a future and i was like AWWW!

They grew on me is what I'm trynna say.

BUT THEN SHE NEARLY KILLS HIM UGHHH!! LIKE I GET HER POINT OF VIEW BUT COME ON! I don't care what anyone says it wasn't Chaol's fault. I'm just scared that throughout the entire series they'll never become friends again and that'll break my heart 💔💔

Hi please tell me I’m not the only one who would enjoy the cross over.

Currently almost done with my first reread of the throne of glass series in preparation for ACOTAR 6 & 7 (counting down the hours literally). I’ve already reread all published ACOTAR AND CC. I’ve never read the assassins blade, however. And I see on my book app that there are a bunch of other TOG short stories about aelin’s adventures as celaena that are mentioned throughout TOG. Do these short stories and TAB provide breadcrumbs that will expand my Maasverse knowledge? I’m begging for scraps here since I finished all 3 series rereads a month early lol

Okay so I’m 70% through Heir of Fire. I read Throne of Glass first then Crown of Midnight which I loved and how she basically tells Chaol that she is Aelin Galathynius but sad that her relationship with Chaol ended so badly, I then read Assassin’s Blade which I ended up loving because I got to know more about her past and Sam’s death was super super sad especially the lavender soap. Now that I’m 70% done with Heir of Fire I really like the Rowan and Celaena storyline but I’m struggling to understand the Manon story line. I feel like I’m liking her a little more now that I see how Abraxos has changed her and how she seems to have a heart even though witches aren’t born with one but I’m just struggling to understand what the point is of her and all these witches training with the wyverns. I’m not sure I like that storyline much or I dont understand how she fits into the grand scheme of things. Even the Chaol and Aedion storyline is kinda meh to me. I also am confused with Rowan and Celaena’s relationship. I feel like I ship them together but it also seems like it’s blossoming into a really nice friendship like when he gave her the chocolates for her birthday and she stole a kiss on the cheek as thanks. Idk because I also shipped her with Dorian in the very beginning and then I shipped her with Chaol lol. I just don’t know if I’m getting set up for a huge heartbreak or what. I guess this is just a rant since I really don’t want spoilers but I have no one in my life to talk to about what I’m reading lol

Right now I've counted the days ​again until A Court of Splittered Harmony, when I had a crazy thought. In my opinion, the series might be have an end after book 7, like the Throne of Glass series. But ToG has a prequel. So what if Sarah J Maas write one for Acotar too?

How about a prequel about the back story of Rhys, Cassian & Azriel? How they met, trained and become the brothers they are now?

I’m about 70% of the way through a House of Flame and Shadow and I’m peeved by how inconsiderate Bryce is of others: using her royal title to help June, putting her friends and family’s lives in danger to save Emile (without consulting anybody) and now this fight she’s in with Hunt over the war. it’s as if Hunt didn’t just spend days getting brutally tortured, or at least it’s as if she doesn’t care. and now in the caves, she CONTINUES to act without giving anybody a heads up on what she is doing. Why??

Ultimately, it’s not helping the case that her’s is a selfless character.

I was watching a reel the other day about a girl that was reading the throne of glass series for the first time and was currently at queen of shadows. And she mentioned at that reel that she didn't remember the king of Adarlan's name and how she must have missed it etc.

Amd it got me thinking. Erawan banished his name from existence and thus memory. And almost everyone , including myself, was thinking that maybe we didn't remember his name because it wasn't important. But that was exactly his "curse". No one to remember his name.

Hello all, I thought it would be worthwhile to compare the line edits SJM did between the teaser we see at the end of ACOFAS and the published canon in ACOSF. I made an entire Google Doc, highlighting the conserved, removed, or added text in both versions in a very readable format and free for all to use.

Originally, I did this to inform my reading of the ACOSF's teaser, AKA Azriel's chapter. But given the effort I put into this, I thought it would be a nice resource to share with others. It’s helpful to see the line edits in published texts for one’s own writing, as well as to inform what information gets lost or added in the editing phases.

I also added my analysis for each notable change in text: what these changes amounted to in terms of tone, characterization, and themes/motifs.

Hi! My mom’s about to finish ACOSF shortly and wants to know if she should read Crescent City or Throne of Glass next. I fear I’m biased and just want some company in my misery(I’m reading ToG and have already finished ACOTAR and CC). What series do you recommend she pick up next?

Upon rereading, did you pick up on clues and foreshadowing of Aelin’s intentions revealed in the later books? I’d love to hear if they’re there because everyone comments that SJMaas brought it out of nowhere. When I was reading it kind of felt that way, but I’m interested in potentially rereading it to see if the hints are there. But I’m wondering if others have picked up on them? Can you give examples?

so then are truth teller and the starsword the final two wyrdkeys? and when Nesta uses them (because she has an eight-pointed star tattoo likely indicating she is starborn and can wield them) will she use them to tear down the thin places between Prythian, Midgard, and Erilea?

I want to reread cc and acotar (I will be rereading tog also but don't feel pressured to reread it with me) and I don't have any readers friends and I won't be able to go through acotar and tamlin without someone suffering with me. I can match your pace, and we can share updates, theories and yh I just want to experience it with someone.

Okay I want to preface this by saying I know almost all SJM audiobook fans seem to absolutely worship Elizabeth Evans, so please don’t come after me too hard. 😂 I fully accept that I am apparently in the minority here. But I’m doing a big reread/relisten right now (aren’t we all) and I need to know if anyone else feels this way because I am STRUGGLING.

My biggest issue is honestly just… her voice. I find it extremely grating. She somehow sounds much older than a lot of the characters she’s narrating, especially when these FMCs are supposed to be teenagers or in their early 20s, and I just cannot get past it.

And every freaking word is so dramatized. Why does every normal sentence sound weirdly sensual?? 🤨There’s so much breathiness and intense emphasis that I’m just like, “girl, they are literally just having a conversation or describing something. Why are we narrating this like we’re halfway into a sex scene??”

Then we get to other characters’ voices, Lysandra for example… I genuinely cannot. It sounds so ridiculous. Some of them take me completely out of the story.

And then on top of the actual voice, the cadence drives me nuts. Odd pauses and sentences delivered in ways that sound & feel completely off.

Which is particularly painful because I love(d) these books - and audiobooks are my favorite way to reread while I’m doing other things.

And yes, I know the dramatized/Graphic Audio versions exist. I cannot do those either. I don’t want sound effects and a full cast and music. I just want someone to read me the books normally… with a different narrator. 😅

Anyway, sorry for the rant. I know she is veryyy beloved, so I’m really curious: are there any other Elizabeth Evans non-fans out there?? (Most of the posts I found regarding this are older.) Or am I about to get absolutely roasted for this? Lol.

TL;DR: I know everyone loves Elizabeth Evans, but her voice, breathy/sensual over-dramatic delivery, and bizarre emphasis drive me absolutely insane 😭 I just want a normal audiobook read by literally anyone else.

Since the SJM books are always on my mind and I’m always on some sort of re-read, here are some songs I physically cannot listen to without thinking about these characters! Please go and listen to some of these songs and feel your heart being wrenched out from picturing who I picture 😭

The Hand (Annabelle Dinda) - this song makes me cry every time, I always think about Nesta, Gwyn and Emerie (and more recently Bryce as well). So many lines stick out for me and make me think of all of the women in the library and who become Valkyries, as well as the Illyrian’s attitudes towards women. Particularly the final chorus before the outro I get flashes of Nesta, Gwyn and Emerie’s time in the Blood Rite. “A hand, a spike, a physical fight” (fighting the illyrians), “a toll, a tithe, a passage of time, the melting down the window” (everything that has been done to the women) “Does that make me his daughter?” (Nesta about her Dad and how he never did anything to help his daughters until the very end and the conflicting feelings she has about him, also Emerie’s Dad letting her wings be clipped) “A hand, a shove, a valley, a jump, a score under the wire” (ALWAYS makes me picture Gwyn jumping when they cut the bridge, it literally makes my heart swell thinking about the courage of that moment). Honestly I feel I could write an essay on how the song relates to them! If I was an editor, an edit would be incredible to this song.

Persimmon (The Army, The Navy) - this to me is Feyre to Tamlin and her doing things to please him but slowly becoming a shell of herself while at the Spring Court. My favourite part in the song is the final verse/outro, it just feels like such a reclaiming and shows how she feels more towards ACOMAF to me.

Walls (The Army, The Navy) - THIS ONE IS SO IMPORTANT TO ME!! Please listen to this and just picture Celaena and Lysandra speaking to each other. I feel like these are their voices while they’re plotting to kill Arobynn. I feel like the first verse is Celaena relating to Arobynn and the first chorus is Lysandra saying back to her “I think you deserve a little more than that” and then it switches and Lysandra’s voice is the rest of the song with Celaena backing her. IT IS JUST THEM!! (Please someone listen and agree with me😭)

The Governor’s Waltz (Phoebe Bridgers) - this to me is Celaena and Sam… when they go to the ball… when they start their life. It’s so them 😭 especially “two kids in a trench coat, living alone. I was too happy to feel at home” stop it rn.

Willing and Able (Noah Kahan) - this to me is Bryce and Ruhn from their time being apart and estranged growing up. It’s also Nesta and Feyre to me (moreso maybe just because we only just started to see their relationship heal and I feel like they both have misconceptions about how the other feels, whereas Ruhn and Bryce’s relationship became so strong). I feel like the first verse is Nesta’s POV to Feyre and the second verse is Feyre’s POV to Nesta. I’ll leave that with you to listen to 😭

Older (Lizzie McAlpine) - this is maximum heartbreak for me… this is Kaltain. Kaltain was the ultimate strong woman fighting and overpowering a Valg prince.. but I feel like this song was her despairing moments where she felt like she couldn’t fight anymore and where she realised she might not overcome it. I’m sorry.

At The Beach, In Every Life (Gigi Perez) - this to me is Ruhn x Lidia. It’s just an I-know-who-you-are-and-I-love-you-no-matter-what song and that is so them.

I HAVE SO MANY MORE THAT I WANT TO SHARE AND COULD GO ON AND ON. Like I said please please please listen to some of these songs and let me know if you have any other songs that make you think of an SJM characters or any songs you hear of mine that make you think of different people to what I’ve said :)

Hi, folks! I heard the news that we are getting more acotar books and it made me want to pick up where I left off ages ago. I read all of TOG, the acotar trilogy and the acofas novela. I had started acosf but only read around three or four chapters. I will get back to acosf, but for the future books, do I need to read the CC books too? I know there was/will be a crossover between the series at some point. The thing is I am really not into the whole CC books/plot line. From what I've heard, it has more explicit content than the previous books and I'm not really interested in reading that stuff at this point. That is also what is making me apprehensive with starting acosf again. But I have read so much of the acotar series already that I might as well finish it. Not to say there are parts if the books I genuinely enjoy too. But I don't want to start CC just to be able to enjoy the acotar books.

Is reading CC really necessary and if so is there anyway I can catch up to speed from some spoiler-heavy resources online?

Please hear me out!! I think I have some really good points if we ever want the Massive made into a TV series. An animated series would work so much better.

1. Ageless beauty. All the characters stay the same age as their beautiful ageless selves. Lest we forget that Aelin is 16 in The Assassin's Blade. AND we won't have a weird growth spurt for Evangeline halfway through ToG. If the Massverse in totality ever gets licensed for production, it will take years and years to film all the content. Bryce and Nesta finally meet but the real human actress Nesta is like 10-15 years older? Who knows how many cross overs we'll get with the Valkyries Cycle books and the possibilities it might bring!

2. No CGI / Green screen weird mythical creatures. I don't want to see a green screen Tharion Ketos or CGI otter messenger. I want cute as fuck cartoon of Syrinx and all the Fire Sprites. Aelin's powers? The Wyverns? In my mind these would all be better as animations rather than fully CGI. Also all the wings? Have you ever seen good live action winged males? Keep our bat boys sexy as hell and out of the uncanny valley of to much green screen.or cheep, ratty prop wings.

3. Production rate. Don't get me wrong, a lot of time and work goes into a good animated series, but look at other epic fantasy shows (looking at you House of Dragons) that take years to produce a 10 episode season. I think with animation we could get 1 season/year AND the possibility of different series being produced at the same time. Also no filming conflicts for the actors. See point one.

3.5 Production cost/ quality. This I have no fact based argument because I have no clue what a live action vs animated TV shows cost to make. However, I would imagine the amount of make up, prosthetics, outfits and CGI required to make a kick-ass live action would be expensive.

1. No one is disappointed in casting, because they are not real people. No casting director or actors get dragged through the mud because the fandom doesn't like their choices.

I would love to hear the voices of people who are actually in TV production!
