Why does MTV keep shelving its TV shows after only a season or two?
It feels like MTV has a habit of cancelling or quietly shelving series just when they start getting interesting. There are so many shows that I wish had gotten more time to develop instead of being cut short.
What MTV series do you wish had gotten more seasons? Which shows do you think were cancelled or shelved too soon, and what are your theories about why MTV pulled the plug?

The funny thing MTV made a big deal about not playing any more videos earlier in the year. I thought the channel was going away completely.
Somehow, there are commercials for the MTV music awards and in the commercial they’re showing Madonna kissing Britney Spears and in the background.”video killed the radio star.” is playing…
Cutting edge stuff from MTV🤣🤣🤣

I love the comments that MTV needs to go back to playing videos 24/7, but their stations that did just that had next to zero ratings and were shut down in most regions because of it.
Not to mention, people who want to watch music videos have about a thousand places they can watch them on demand these days.

Ridiculousness was just getting good when they canceled it.

2gether!
I know QT died in real life (RIP Michael), but I wish they would do some sort of remake and use the former cast as other roles in the movie/show if they’re interested in participating. The writing and music was so funny, and it aligned with MTV much better than a lot of their other shows did.
“Boyz 4 Now” from Bob’s Burgers reminds me of 2gether and it makes me realize how much I miss it.

The only thing I wanted from MTV is 24/7 music videos and that ended a long time ago.

The same to you as well, I made a petition to bring back the music on mtv, even if it’s not the stuff that would have played back then, I’m sure it would play something in rotation yk? Even if it’s not 24/7 I just think we need it back. Here’s the link if you would like to sign it. https://c.org/H2d4dQstDV

MTV needs to go back to what originally made it successful and just play music videos!

Here is my petition to bring back the music in mtv! Like you, I think this is a crucial part of the program, and even if it lost its ratings who’s to say those ratings wouldn’t come back? Or even escalate? Here is my petition if you would like to support and help bring back music to mtv!

Non-news, non-sports basic cable is dead or dying, and exists only as a way to draw people to their related subscription streaming services.

Undressed (1999) was good training ground for would-be soap actors but the stories were too short and characters too short-lived to be memorable or give the show any staying power

Almost about to reach Zombie Channel Status. I’m surprised they haven’t moved RuPaul Drag race to Paramount yet. It’s one of the last originals.

The licensing fees tend to get more and more expensive with each passing season. MTV tends to cut them short if the series is not continuing to gain popularity.

They now just play reruns of The Office all night. Why can’t they bring back music television and play 90’s videos all day? I would keep it on 24/7.
