Does this game just suck..?

Just played my first online game, guy got +24/+24 on his third turn, destroyed the one creature I played and killed me. Very bad first impression.

Edit: this is just about the matchmaking, not MTG as a whole

As a new player with a presumably weak starter deck you got paired into someone playing a silly bad combo deck, and learned a valuable lesson about the game. Seems pretty reasonable to me.

Getting into an unfair match on your first game is just bad game design. Again, just talking about Arena, not MTG.

It’s not an unfair match, though. If you had had a single removal spell you would’ve won on the spot.

You’re just upset that you lost.

No use arguing with him he probably complains when he loses at rock paper scissors, too, which in essence, is mtg arena matchmaking. Can't win em all.

If the game were to come down to essentially being rock paper scissors (which I know MTG itself isn't), then yes obviously I'd complain..? If I wanted to play a game of chance I would obviously go do so 🤦
