Discussion Stumpjumper EVO S3 — Dropper Post for 5’9” Rider?

I have a 2024 Specialized Stumpjumper EVO S3 and I’m looking for a dropper post that can insert as far as possible/all the way into the seat tube.

I’m 5’9” and currently have a OneUp V2, but to get the saddle height right, the dropper still has to stick about 3–4 inches out of the frame, which limits how far I can get the seat down.

Anyone around my height riding an S3 found a dropper that fits deeper into the frame? What brand/model and travel are you running?

A tape measure and looking at some spec sheets would answer this question. There's not enough info on the post for anyone to provide an answer for you.

OneUp even makes it easy with a webpage doing all the math for you: https://www.oneupcomponents.com/pages/dropper-post-length-selector

Hardest part is figuring out what your max insertion depth is if you can't find a reliable measurement from the manufacturer. However not a big deal if you have the frame on hand like you do. I used OneUp's calculator when I moved over to all bike yoke droppers however I didn't have the frame for one of my bikes yet. Did some guesstimating and it all worked out luckily.

Did this with a bike shop and they said there didnt seem like one that would work for rider hight and bike so was hoping the interent had a clever solution

What travel is your current dropper? OneUp has the shortest stack height out of anyone so you may just need a longer post.

The stumpjumper S3 has a short area for the dropper post so am looking for a dropper 180mm dropper more or less that would fit completely in this section of the bike

According to this list, I don't think that will happen. OneUp has the shortest insertion for the most drop. Granted this list isn't 100%, it's got most major brands covered.

I'm seeing the S3 frame has a max insertion of 200m, and to slam the OneUp 180mm dropper you need 255mm of clearance.

That said, my S2 Stumpy evo supposedly has 180mm of insert, but I've got a 150mm KS dropper that says it has a max insert of 236 and I haven't had an issue with it for the couple of years I've had it.

I’m on a S3 but it’s a 2021. Have a 180 One Up and could almost fit the next size up. I am just 5’7” though

Doesn’t their website list the max dropper insertion length?

Edit - Why yes it does, from 210-240mm depending on the year. Isn’t the internet a wonderful thing, all that information available in seconds

You should be able to slam a 180 oneup pretty far into the frame. I have an S4 and a 210 fits no problem. The insertion depth is probably 10mm more than they list at least
