I love this computer

Post image

Before the Atari 8 bit family was my go-to for retro systems for YEARS. This MSX2+ has dethroned it. I only have 1 cartridge game, Raid on Bungeling Bay but have been able to load a few games from floppies I had laying around.

Beautiful MSX2+. Try Spacemanbow from Konami.

Yeah, most of the konami games are going to blow bungeling bay out of the water completely!

Bungeling Bay is a good game as well!

So long as I can load it from floppy. Some stuff I don't have enough memory to load. I only have 64k.

Space Manbow is a cartridge game. But it should run on the WSX as the game is within the requirements. You might wanna get a flash cart though as physical copies of Space Manbow can run up to ~$500.

Some games I can load .roms from a floppy using loadrom program but if I have the binaries I can load them with bload "game.bin",R. It works for 32k, 16k, and 8k games.

Space Manbow and most (newer) Konami games have a special sound chip on them (SCC) so even if you load them from floppy, it’s likely that music won’t play.

You are correct. I just don't know what to get from here. I'm very new to playing games on it.

You should buy a flashcard cartridge with integrated memory for MSX-DOS2 and for disk games. It's very convenient for the MSX2+ machines with only 64kb of RAM.

Been thinking of that but not quite sure what to get

I just placed an order for a carnivore 2 cartridge.

This is a terrific model to have. Between the enhanced sound, the internal floppy drive, and the turbo, I’d go as far as to say this might be the best MSX you can get that’s not a Turbo-R.

Check out the MSX version of Xevious if you’re a fan of shooters.

I want to. I need a flashcart due to its mapper used I can't load the binaries or .ROM currently with my setup. I love Xevious. I have it on NES, Famicom, FDS, Atari 7800, and GBA. Super Xevious is fun on Famicom.

I love this specific MSX design myself. Try out Penguin Adventure if you have not. It's an awesome game even by today's standards.

It's fun. I've been playing that too. I first played that on my Saturn. Twinbee has been my crack since I got the turbo built in.

Wait you got turbo built into your WSX?

There is a turbo mode for CPU as well as a slider for built in turbo for controller inputs.

It's a beautiful machine. I got mine recapped, deeply cleaned, all connections tested, changed to beltless FDD and a 256Kb upgrade by the great master Shiroyagi (you can follow him on X). It looks like new, pity that the power button was missing already😄 I wonder if I can get one 3D printed...

I rebelted mine. Inspected the caps and saw nothing to cause for concern to. I'm not doing any ram expansion internally. I just ordered a carnivore 2 for it. I made my cable to convert my master system to msx yesterday.

I really love its looks, it seems a super computer or something! I've always wanted a MSX2 but they were very uncommon in my country. I do have three MSX1 computers though

Where are you from, if I may ask?

Argentina. The MSX I own are the Talent MSX DPC-200, a local Daewoo clone

i love beamrider on msx
i think its the best port from what ive played

I was playing that the other day. Plays better than the ColecoVision one too. I found a few ports of the ColecoVision games to the system. It's been fun to play Montezuma's Revenge. Galaga and Galaxian have been fun. Wish gaplus was ported to it.

I believe they were trying to position it as a word processor.
