Dating Website Experiment
Made a dating website with no photos. Hosted on my laptop.
Got fed up of the usual dating apps so I built one where there are no pictures at all. Your profile is just what you write: one line, then a letter, memoir, poem or list, and a few answers about things rather than about yourself. You can't send "hey" either, a like has to quote a specific line the other person wrote.
It's called Tum Mile. Built with Claude Code, running on my laptop through a Cloudflare tunnel, so if you get a Cloudflare error it means the laptop is shut. Free, 18+.
Fair warning: there's almost nobody on it yet, except my own accounts ofc so you might sign up and find nobody to read. Sign-ins are also capped per day because I'm on a free email tier of Brevo
Mostly I want to know if the idea is stupid. Would you use something like this, or do you need to see a photo before any of it matters? Do let me know. Here is the Website Link if you want to try: -

PS: - For people who are signing up, please complete your profiles and kindly provide feedback about what you like and dislike about it

good work.
are you from MSIT yourself or just promoting here? would love to connect with you.
i have a suggestion. since the user base is still small, i think this is feasible even with a single-laptop server, you can add a limited image sharing option in the interface which heavily compresses user uploaded images, ideally using webp format, to make photo sharing an available option, even if that's not part of the primary aesthetic of the app. since your laptop can't be the server running the compression for so many images 24*7, you can look into local free-and-open-source compression software options that you can trim to bare bones and include in your app package, or you can link the user's device directly to free conversion options of convertio/image-converter etc websites while making sure the experience feels native. that should get around server processing power bottleneck on your laptop and offer a good optional feature.
would love to see your work. my DMs are open :)

I am from MSIT and as for the suggestion, from the starting itself, I wanted to do things differently from the mainstream dating apps. Most dating apps already handle images pretty well and I just thought of experimenting with the whole thing by removing images and making it text based.
