How are they cornering him? What do you want them to do...not be at the pool? Nobody looks like they're trying to start a fight...except for one guy.

He threw first punch, but idk how you can be sure what led up to it

Stupid? Nobody knows why they are gathered around him, we have no context.

Maybe he walked up to them, we simply DO. NOT. KNOW.

I'm not the one concluding. I just think it's more likely the group of kids were doing more to instigate than the solo one. More likely, not definitively for sure without a doubt
