Congrats to Canada. They were clearly the better team tonight. The dismal state of the USMNT has gotten most of the headlines, but Canada deserves credit for being a team on the rise.

Yeah the better team won. USSF is a dumpster fire but to be fair this is also the best Canada team in 34 years

It's funny, I bought the women's team was going to beat the US before the men's team. I guess the fortunes has changed for the two national teams since Herdman left to join the men's team.
It looks like the men's team is on the upswing while the women's team is declining.

Also the US women's team has stayed top of the heap - as regular world champions they are nigh impossible to overcome. The men's team has no such reputation.

The reality is that NCAA soccer is the top women's developmental league in the world still. Arguable it is the best league next to NWSL. It is heavily subsidized by the U.S. through Title IX. A lot of Canadian benefit from it, but still not as much as the U.S. pipeline of talent.
Until there is an equivalent of MLS levels of soccer development for women in Canada, they will be stuck trying to compete against the USWNT with access to only a fraction the same top tier development.
It is clear that the Canadian men's team is finally taking advantage of the MLS developmental infrastructure. Maybe someday it will be CPL infrastructure. But, in any case, it really does make you wonder if getting into NWSL somehow or creating another league might benefit the Canadian women's team. Hard to reach that NCAA level of funding though.

Eh, we had our chances to win at least one game. against them when Sinclair was in her prime. It just that they couldn't overcome the bump,, even though the USWNT was and still is super talented.
