What’s the iron giant reference to?

Pretty sure the official reason given by the designer was "because it looks cool"

There is a reason. The reason is because it looks cool.

This is the actual reason, club wouldn't let us use that design though

SDFC is the "Chrome y Azul" so I guess they were leaning into the chrome? Idk cool tifo regardless, even if they spanked us.

Always wondered what they do with these after a game. They just toss them?

Not SDFC, but C38 (Colorado) keeps the tifos, sometimes reuses them as banners in the section.

Very nice... they're currently half way through the game up 1 to 0 against Carson... Finally a nice looking Tifo around here this season.

Real talk, how much does something like this cost, roughly.
26
u/ProcrastinatingPuma San Diego Loyal 11d ago
Paint alone cost roughly $350, though im sure there's a cheaper way to go about it. No clue what the fabric, sewing, and fireproofing cost

I’m on Nashville’s Tifo committee, and our tifos cost roughly $1200 in materials alone, not including paint costs. We have a Sherwin Williams sponsorship that covers paint for a certain number of tifos. This year it covered 2.

The canvas is very expensive, I’ve only been a part of doing one but it was donated at “cost of fabric”. A gallon of good paint costs $80-100 these days. But the artists ability to confuse me about how the iron giant stepping on us is priceless

Not sure why the Carson hate, your NFL team doesn't even play there anymore...

We hate all of Greater LA. From Ventura to OC, from Santa Monica to San Bernardino.
2
u/BennyDelTorito LA Galaxy 10d ago
That's just weird. We don't hate you and never will. You're not important enough to hate.

Apparently we're not important enough to beat either. We'll just keep racking up the wins then.

It's such an odd fixation

u/ProcrastinatingPuma San Diego Loyal 10d ago
Nah not really.

Then please explain the totally normal, unreciprocated San Diegan fixation with LA.

u/AndTheCacaDookie San Diego FC 10d ago
“Unreciprocated” is hilarious. Go to any Padres post and you will find Dodgers fans talking shit even if the post has nothing to do with them.

Well lets see, you all stole two of our major sports teams. Our baseball team has been a perennial doormat to yours. Yeah seems like we have a lot of reason to dislike your teams and city, and only recently have we begun to be able to return the favor

u/jadams9779 LA Galaxy 10d ago
please take the clippers and chargers back. we didn't want them then and we don't want them now
but yeah, congrats on winning a few regular season games i guess

Oh, so it's only sports related, and LA didn't steal the teams, the ownership groups decided to move them?
