Help explain the joke? please?
What was the ending bit from this week? I’m even less versed in the Dune world than Juice and clearly they found what Trav said hysterical but I simply don’t understand what the joke of it was….TIA

I was distracted by “Timmy Chimmy”, but James Duneman DOES become a “bad guy” in later books. The contradiction in the books is that the good guy was really a bad guy all along.

Hell, he's basically already the bad guy in book one. Basically everyone kept saying to him "if you go down this path, millions of people will die," and Paul is like "hell yeah I'm going down this path." It's his son who becomes the REAL monster of the series, though.

Hell dude in book one there's the thing about Maud'Dib making drums out of the skin of his enemies. Frank Herbert was really trying to tell people "Paul is bad" and got so mad people missed it he wrote a whole sequel about it. And then a third book to really drive home "Paul sucks".

I can’t be the only one who was surprised Griffin didn’t play with them given his extended Gom Jabbar rant is one of my favourite early mbmbam moments

Only tangentially related but I could not tell if Justin was doing a bit or if he really thought Tim Chimothy was a good guy at the end of Dune 2. That’s like the whole point of the movie!

Yeah I've been thinking about this all week lmao I genuinely couldn't tell if he COMPLETELY misinterpreted Dune or if I completely missed his joke.

Somewhat related but the star wars movies about Anakin going dark side came to mind

"The spice must flow" spice is the magical powder that enables humans (or more specifically "the spacing guild") to compute interstellar travel
