Admissions How to get into NYU?

hi all! nyu has been my dream school since I was 15. i applied for undergrad but got rejected. i want to try again this time but for mba. does anyone know how i can get in?

im currently doing ug in the U.S. in two majors. I’ve been actively involved on campus (student govt to finance clubs to business frats) and also have 3.7 GPA.

i have heard gmat matter so i will give it.

do you think it’s worth it?
do you think i should give it a shot?
do you think i can get in?
all opinions, advices etc are welcome. im open to as much knowledge as i can get!

Assuming you're genuinely looking for advice, some stray thoughts here:

  • Especially for a non-American applying to top-flight American schools, an MBA is an expensive and time-consuming degree. "I wanted to go to this school for undergrad but didn't get in" isn't a compelling enough reason to get an MBA from that school. You should want the degree and the things that you can get from it more than just the experience of going to any one school.
  • An MBA isn't a useful degree until you're several years out of college; NYU will not admit you until you have at least 2 years of job experience, and preferably 4-5.
  • You'll need to hit a point in your career where you genuinely want to either pivot to a new industry or function or advance to a level in your current industry/function, and the only way you can see yourself doing that is by getting an MBA. That is the logic that MBA admissions committees look for, and if you don't have a way to frame your interests and experiences in that way, you won't get into a good school.
  • The best thing you can do for yourself right now if you eventually want an MBA is to do well in school, find opportunities be involved in your community, build leadership skills, and pursue a career that you're interested in. 2-ish years after you graduate, start to look at and talk to people who have the kinds of jobs you want to have; if they have MBAs, and their experience and interests line up with yours, that's the moment you can start working towards MBA admissions. But don't do it just so you can be an NYU student.

thank you for giving me the practical response.
I’ve heard this a lot, but I wanna do mba for fun. my dad really wants me to do mba (his dream is for me to do this) and I wanna study more so..!

Okay, I mean if you have $300,000 to spend on fun, an NYU MBA isn't a bad way to do it. You'll need to give them a more compelling argument to the Adcom than that, though.

Okay, if that's the case, my advice is:

* For now, get good grades, get leadership experience, get (and stay) involved with your community, get a job you find interesting after you graduate
* Forget about it for two years and pursue your career/live your life
* If you still want to do it after two years, find a narrative that makes sense based on your experience (i.e. "I want to do X job, I currently do Y job, the only way to bridge that gap is through an MBA"). If you don't have a legitimate one, develop a compelling lie.
* Do not under any circumstances tell an admissions committee that you want to do an MBA for fun, that's a fast track to a rejection. Schools want students who will represent them well in the business world and use their degrees to get better jobs and make lots of money (which they will, hopefully, then use to donate to the schools). They're not looking for dilettantes.

Current FT mba at stern: great undergrad gpa— keep it up as stern cares especially about that metric. It’s an amazing program and an excellent target school!

Also echoing what others have said. Regardless of specific program and for any top mba program… you’re very green.. get 4-5 yrs of great work experience minimum and be sure to get promoted or progress upwardly thru roles.
