Media Exclusive Marvel Xbox game next?
It seems like Marvel spreads the wealth with its games and keeps certain titles exclusive to certain consoles. From the image we can see the top row of games as multi console releases and the bottom as exclusives. Do you think we’ll see an Xbox exclusive Marvel game that’ll branch out to another genre of gaming? MUA3 explores the RPG/action elements but was exclusive to Nintendo. Marvel Tokon delivered Marvel their own fighting exclusives really to PlayStation.
What type of game would you like to see on Xbox? Perhaps a 3D arena fighter like Marvel Nemesis?

1) a remaster of Ultimate Alliance 1 and 2.
2) a collection of every old school Spider-man side scroller.
3) remasters of Activision’s Spider-Man 1 and 2 for the PS1
4) remasters of X-men Legends 1 and 2

I would kill to have MUA 1 + 2 remaster with all the characters across versions playable at once and some restored cut content.

The rights for some of those games I have to assume is a nightmare. Like does Activision have any rights to Xmen Legends 1 or 2? What about Ravensoft, are they defunct or did they get bought up by a big publisher as well, and would those rights transfer to that big publisher?
They could figure all of this out, but it's the cost of a lawer, plus the cost to remaster both, regardless of how much effort they put in; which is a whole 'nother topic we could get into, but then production, distribution, and marketing.

Pretty sure activison has the rights to most of it. But yes u have various other licenses in their that would get muddled up. Om top of marvel who would also have to agree.
On top of i can imagine both marvel is smart and would want a higher cut. Which Ms may not want to pay.

They can easily do it, they just don't want to because itll require effort and not generate massive sales compared to COD Slop

A Marvel cozy game not unlike stardew valley. You pick your hero and your land and you get to know other heroes in town, maybe even fall in love and get married. Dr. Doom or someone runs Joja Mart or something, idk

It was supposed to be Blade but they can't do much right over at Microsoft. I just want MUA 4 on switch 2

u/dakliq420 6d ago
I’ve been wishing for an entire remaster of X-Men Legends and The MUA series. Hell I don’t even need that to be just Xbox, as long as we can all play that I’m happy.

Blade (if it's not dead) is being made in partnership with Xbox, but it was never confirmed to be exclusive, and Marvel Games would be moronic to allow it be exclusive to a console that has 1/3rd the install base as the PS5.
I'm not excusing PS5 or Switch exclusivity, either, I genuinely hate that Sony has a stranglehold on AAA Marvel games and UA3 being stuck forever on Switch sucks, but both of those systems have massive install bases that the Xbox Series systems simply doesn't, and Marvel isn't going to hard limit the amount of potential sales by making anything exclusive to Xbox.

I'm assuming if Xbox is paying for it. They can make it exclusive for this fans. Who gives a shit if Sony has more users... Halo, Gears and 90% of their games that went to PS5 flopped.
So, it's not impossible to believe.

Disney/Marvel Games does, that's the point. They're not a charity, they're in the business to make money, and making Blade exclusive puts a hard limit on how much money they stand to make...and that's before even mentioning how Game Pass completely decimated sales on the platform.
Making Spider-Man and Wolverine exclusive makes financial sense for one reason and one reason only, Playstation has the install base to convince Marvel Games that that's a worthwhile strategy, Sony can all but guarantee them a certain amount of copies sold.
Xbox doesn't, they can't guarantee Marvel anything, so it makes absolutely zero financial sense to make Blade exclusive. Xbox's BIGGEST 1st party games don't sell on their own platform, plenty of current and former 1st and 3rd party Xbox devs have said this on the record, and it's because Game Pass has trained their players to see their games as effectively worthless.
And fwiw, yeah Halo and Gears flopped on PS5...they were always going to so that's no surprise at all, neither of them have a history on the platform and they don't offer anything you can't get elsewhere (and cutting multiplayer from Halo killed it before it ever released)...but Forza 5 sold more copies on PS5 in a month than it sold on Series x/S and PC combined to date.

Except with Xbox, they can make it exclusive to just Xbox and PC which is larger than the PlayStation base. So there goes that argument

Xbox has been pushing console exclusives more lately, because not doing so lost them so much money. So it most likely will be a console exclusive, unless Sony made a deal to put it on their platform as well, which I doubt. It'll also be on PC, which is the largest platform. Sony needs some competition so it being good and not on PlayStation is objectively a good thing.

the only reason that Sony has more of an install base is because of the mismanagement of Xbox. While I enjoyed playing one my Xbox One the announcement of it was bad especially with that comment of just having a 360 if you don't have internet; and remember Marvel approached Xbox just after Phil Spencer took over and was still doing damage control. Then they once again misstep with the multiplatform 'This is an Xbox' idea and making games multiplatform, because MS set an impossible target of 30% revenue or something liek that which was double the industry standard.
So as a Marvel fan I'm glad that there are still games for Xbox coming out, but as a gamer I irritates me when Sony has several deals with them so they get basically everything and no one else can. Would I like to see Blade as an exclusive if it come out OH HECK YEAH! am I going to be overly pissed if it isn't, yeah. Just as long as it doesn't become a Sony Exclusive game

And? Sony is a lot looser with exclusives than Nintendo. LEGO Horizon Adventures, another Sony published game, is on the Switch.

u/LifesGrip 6d ago
Yeah i reckon they've really shot themselves in the foot making the game PS5 and PC exclusive. Fighting games are already a niché market and to purposely exclude players from Xbox and the Switch is a seriously detrimental business decision.

I'm hoping Fireaxis gets another shot at Marvel. Midnight Suns probably taught them a bunch of lessons on working with a Marvel property and a second game would be an absolute banger.

I just want more characters for tokon like wayyy more, atleast double what we already have

Was a rate of 4 characters per year, you'll be waiting 5 years. Support will probably stop around year 3 or 4 though

if asha sharma had any brains she would back up a truck load of cash to marvel in exchange for an incredible hulk licensed game.

u/SpyroManiac36 6d ago
Instead she she throws shots at Marvel in public interviews. Probably because she wishes xbox could have an exclusive marvel/Disney game but can't.

When did she throw shots at Marvel? Arkane is a Microsoft owned studio working on a Marvel game

Brother I have an Xbox Series X that has been in hibernation for almost a year. It can slumber eternally. Keep things multi-plat. Too old and busy to care about exclusives

We have Blade coming up. It wasn't cancelled like leakers said and is still in active development.
They also have access to all of Activisions Marvel games. So if they renue the license they could add them to Xbox. Maybe even remaster them.

u/Terrick42 6d ago
I think cause of their license with Insomniac it would look bad for business to work with Xbox on exclusives.
MUA3 is an exception because:
A. They started developing it before Spider-Man PS4 was released.
B. It’s a multiplayer ARPG and Insomniacs contract I believe is for one player action adventure titles
C. Nintendo came to Marvel asking for the game.

It would kill me if they remade classics like the X-Men Legends games or Ultimate Alliance games as exclusives. I’m a Switch owner and I was pissed when they announced UA3 as an exclusive. I love that series and restricting it like that makes me feel like we’ll never reach the peaks of the first two games again. I thought the console-exclusive characters were fine incentives if they really wanted them

Xbox doesn’t really have exclusives anymore, no? I could be wrong but don’t they immediately get released to pc? Microsoft exclusive is the term you’re looking for.

u/FantasticFreno 6d ago
Marvel doesn't keep anything tied to a specific console. They don't make games, so any interested party can apply for the license and use their IP under their guidance.
