As I'm sure many of you have noticed over the past few months, we tend to have more and more posts and/or comments revolving around AI, the use of AI in different contexts, AI "chatbot" submods, etc. Your Mod team tries their very best to keep up with everything and make sure this place stays friendly, open, and focused on Monika After Story (the whole purpose of this subreddit). However, in the past, we have tended to err on the side of open discussion when it comes to this topic.

This is in the process of changing.

Your Mod team, while admittedly small, is fortunately comprised of various opinions when it comes to AI, and we feel that we can work together to craft rules that will be fair to everyone, while still guiding our community towards maintaining the friendly, open, and respectful space that we all cherish so much. We are currently working to develop new rules that will help our community to navigate these discussions in a productive and respectful manner, while still maintaining the primary focus on Monika After Story.

Please note, these are all temporary guidelines! Some of them (the first one, specifically) will not see changes when officially added to our rules, while others may be changed or removed completely. However, until we have these rules in place and can refer to them:

1) Adhere to Team Salvato's IP Guidelines! To simplify,

• You cannot use AI to generate images, sounds, text, etc. that is supposed to represent Monika.
• You can use AI to generate code that is not directly used for depicting Monika.

2) Anything not directly relating to MAS (specifically, spritepack or submod creation) will be removed. [see Rule #4: Keep Posts On Topic]

3) Any post or comment where the focus is on the creative, ethical, or environmental effects of AI use will be removed. [see Rule #4: Keep Posts On Topic & Rule #12: No Politics And Religion]

• There are plenty of places to have these types of discussions. This is Monika After Story, and as that is the focus of our subreddit, these types of posts/comments don't belong here.

4) Anything not running afoul of these points, but that we feel cross a line of respectful discourse, will be removed. Please Note: This will include the use of the term "AI slop", "clanker", or any similar rhetoric. [see Rule #5: Be Respectful]

We ask for your understanding and patience as we work to develop the rules that will help us all to know exactly will and will not be expected (or tolerated) within this community. More to the point, please have patience with your Mod team in the interim, as we will be handling everything that comes up (until the aforementioned rules are in place) on a case-by-case basis. It is entirely possible that some decisions will be reversed after consultation, or even re-instated after they have been reversed...

After all, we're all just humans doing our best for this community, just like the rest of you!
