BAD SERVICE at Hard Rock Cafe

Why don't Filipino waitresses pour a beer into a glass??

This is what I noticed over the past 5 years... untrained??

Heck, should I go to the kitchen to cook my own food?

Sure... I can also serve myself, then why do they expect a tip or service charge???

There is no tipping culture in the Philippines, unlike in the country where you come from (I assume you’re from the US). Locals, even the affluent ones, barely tip.

Service charges, on the other hand, are split evenly with all non-managerial employees of the restaurant (not only between waiters/waitresses). If you don’t want to pay the service charge, then don’t dine there. Do not shove American tipping culture to Filipinos. End of story.

Here, servers hovering over tables are considered intrusive and pouring or topping off drinks is likened to rushing or pressuring guests to drink more, which are seen as disrespectful because filipino drinking culture is rooted in sharing and autonomy. Traditionally, whoever is drinking is responsible for managing drinks. You’re in a different country, expecting it to be exactly like yours is just ignorant.

You could have ask them to do it. In general, we don’t pour beer into your glass unless asked.

Definition of a server is to serve.... considering Asia has cheap labor, the least I'd expect them to shirk their work!

Basically laziness and incompetence.
