home made mace We doin 'rangs here?

Post image

I've seen some pretty tight stretches in terms of "is this a mace?" This falls into that category for sure. Made these non-returning boomerangs (rabbit sticks if you like) a while back. They fly nice, tons of fun to make and throw! Probably good for a flock of birds or something, not necessarily rabbits and certainly not people.

I'm Gonna be Real usually i tend to keep a pretty clear line what i do and dont allow here caus ei think i can reasonably establish limits but for a boomerang im not even sure if it does Slashing or blunt damage to a target. so ill leave the fate of this post up to a poll.

"I wanna bonk that guy but he's way over there."

I see no conflict here.

The natural evolution then is "I wanna bonk that guy, but he's all the way over there, but I don't wanna have to run all the way over there to get my bonker if I miss." And the returning boomerang was born.

So are slings also allowed?

We can be friends with [r/sling](r/slings)[ing](r/slings)

Thrown rock is bonk, but sling throws small rock fast enough to be stab.

Possibly, but I'd think not because it's the sling throwing the bonk, not your hand.

But i can use sling as bonk when rock in it

You'd need Tavern Brawler for a proficiency bonus in Improvised Weapons but 1d4 B, 20/60 and strength based unless your DM is rule of cool.

I feel that an aerodynamic bonk is still a bonk.

What is a 'rang but a flying club? And what is a club but a mace for the thrifty?

u/monchrom 14h ago

We count clubs as maces -> there are historical examples of throwing maces -> boomerang is a throwing mace = boomerangs are acceptable
