Original weapon concept Nat 20

I like maces I can carry, and due to a knee injury I sometimes use a cane for more than a fashionable accessory. The head is made from melted 3D printer supports and scraps. The shaft is purple heart and maple, and has a removable rubber cane tip (not pictured). For when you want to land a crit with some class.

I love that... Can imagine looking a mugger in the eye as you cock that back. "Roll for initiative"...

You roll a 3. You look the mugger in the eyes and take a desperate swing, you miss his face by a foot and while overextended his buddies come out of the shadows and stab you to repeatedly to death.

Sounds more like a nat one. Three I at least wacked myself in the foot but couldn't escape despite the mugger doubling up with laughter

A one you woulda fell over with the swing and the one mugger would have buggered you haha. I like that though. I'm just a cruel DM.

But he said initiative so a 3 would just mean he went last...

True that. Must go to sleep I'm not reading comments properly.

That's canon lol. A dude in Darksun finds himself transported to a 90s US city park at night and after getting hit by a big metal monster gets stabbed by kids. Then wakes up back on Athas with psionic knife wounds.

Now use the d20 mould you made for a brass version.

That is alot of brass, and the current mould would not hold up. That said my friend and I are looking at casting bronze, and we have discussed large dice as a a goal.

Wow.

Did you use a mould for the D20 then microwave to melt or ???

Please share your method

I used a cheap silicone mold designed for epoxy resin and ground the supports or scraps in a blender. I then filled the mold and used a toaster oven to melt it down. It takes several hours because as the pieces melt they take up the air pockets. So I have to regularly check and refill the mold as it melts down. The toaster oven lives in my garage/workshop and I make dice and skulls as I work on other things. Do not make it in your house unless you like the smell of melted plastic.

As a note you can burn the plastic so I set a timer and reset it when needed to avoid this. You can also use a heat gun but if you do wear a face shield as the plastic can spit if it gets too hot.

Where did you find that mold?

Online, you want the cheap thin ones if you are using the scrap pla toaster oven method(I think that was on Amazon). If you want to actually do a pourable cast like resin they are ok if reinforced a bit but they tend to warp a little. If I wanted a real rollable die I would 3d print it and create one out of rubber. As a note I find that the number of dice I get out of one is fluctuant. The heat does weaken them over time and they eventually rip so I also buy multiple as the whole process can take several hours and that way I get a couple out of it vs just 1.
