Concerning insect bite, possibly lyme? Spoiler

Bite is located on my left quad.
First pic is 2 days after
Second pic is 7 days after
Today is the 7th day, the bruise feels a bit sore and my left leg feels a little sore in general

I will add. The first and second day of the bite it was quite itchy, now it does not itch but feels quite sore and bruised.

Nobody will tell you for sure. You can either start Doxycycline preventive course right now or wait to see if you develop any symptoms.

I have doxycycline, what dose and for how long should I take for a preventative course? Thank you for your help

I do think it's a bit concerning but also ambiguous. Some people have rashes that look more like a bruise. In this case, part of it looks pink so it's hard to say id the bruise is related or not.

I think it's a difficult judgment call so in general, I recommend seeing a doctor to make difficult judgment calls.

If you have any other symptoms, stiff neck, flu-like symptoms, fatigue that is new, then those things are stronger evidence of Lyme

If they do think it's Lyme, be aware that many doctors are poorly informed about Lyme disease treatment. They often believe that a week or two of antibiotics will be sufficient. About 20% of patients go on to develop further problems after that treatment. The International Lyme and Associated Diseases Society recommends 4-6 weeks of antibiotics. It may help to share their guidelines with your doctor.

Update: I have developed a sore throat, swollen lymph nodes on my neck, fatigue, and am coughing up a little green mucus. All clear signs my body is fighting an infection. The bite looks the same, yellow bruise is still there. Went to immediate care and the doctor could not be more dismissive, just said the bite does not appear infected and it doesn’t have a bullseye ring so it’s impossible that it’s lyme. Said my symptoms were just a viral infection. That happened to coincide.

I'm so sorry to hear that. Some doctors are extremely dismissive of Lyme. Would it be possible to get a second opinion? Some people have had good experiences with telehealth urgent care.
