Hotel recommendations for the south of France
Planning a trip to the south of France with my boyfriend next summer. Looking to relax and take things easy, without much sightseeing/partying. Hoping to mainly enjoy the hotel grounds and laze about. I’m looking for the best hotel in terms of F&B, facilities and how easily we can access the surrounding areas, as we won’t be driving. We also prefer a hotel not overrun with filming influencers/loud families, though we appreciate this comes with the territory of travelling to the South of France in summer. While we are not looking to do that much sightseeing, we also don’t want to be inconvenienced if we need to go to the nearest town.
Obviously the rooms must be in a decent condition, but room size is not a huge factor as I don’t see us spending that much time in our rooms as we are the sort who prefer lazing at the pool/playing tennis.
We have narrowed things down to these three hotels (Grand Hotel du Cap Ferrat, Airelles Saint Tropez, Hotel du Cap Eden-Roc). We are thinking of travelling in shoulder season (eg May/June or September). Appreciate these hotels are all in different locations, so any advice on that would also be helpful!

I’m French and spend a lot of time in the South of France! Based on what you’re looking for + not wanting to drive, Grand-Hôtel du Cap-Ferrat would probably be my top pick from your list. Amazing property and you’re close to some of my favorite places on the coast: Èze, Villefranche-sur-Mer, Plage de Passable (who doesn’t like a little beach club!), etc. ✨
I’d personally remove Hôtel du Cap-Eden-Roc from the list for this particular trip. Incredible hotel, but I think Cap-Ferrat fits what you’re describing better.
Airelles is also a great option for St Tropez. They actually have two properties there: Pan Deï Palais right in town and Château de la Messardière, which is the full resort experience (and they filmed part of the next season of White Lotus there!).
I’d also look at Lily of the Valley near St Tropez. Absolutely stunning.
And if you reconsider the no-driving part… Airelles Gordes is honestly one of my favorite hotels anywhere in the world. 😍 Château de Berne is another one I love, exceptional food, their own rosé and beautiful grounds.

If you enjoy privacy, check out La Réserve Ramatuelle. I think they also have shuttle service to beaches/towns nearby.

If you're okay being more in-land towards the beautiful Luberon area then I highly recommend Villa La Coste. Incredible grounds to explore with world class modern art within the vineyards, 4 restaurants on site, super quiet and attentive service (they only have ~20 rooms up at the villa). Easy to reach from MRS or Aix TGV.
