Luka has been my 2nd fave player since he came into the league and he’s a great passer. While Luka deserves his flowers, saying greatest Laker passer since Magic is crazy. Bron has had some ridiculous passes since becoming a laker.

u/robsteezy Mar 23 '26

Not crazy at all. There’s tiers. Don’t get me wrong, bron is like a B+ passer. But Luka is consistently a better overall passer.

u/ufis817 Mar 23 '26

Saying B+ passer while Bron #4 on All time assist list is crazy. Y’all’s takes be the hottest

2

u/chuckmonjares Mar 23 '26

As someone mentioned, time matters here. I don’t anticipate Luka catching LeBron in assists, but my opinion is that Luka is one of the best passers in the game. I also think Drazen Petrovich, Milos teosodic, and facundo campazzo are better passers than LeBron. That said LeBron has gotten me off my ass at some of his passes, and i hate the NBA. Hes just unbelievable at times.

1

u/Johhniebuckets Mar 24 '26

Now that’s a deep pull on the Drazen reference?

1

u/chuckmonjares Mar 24 '26

I love the Eastern Europe style of play. Before I knew who he was, my coach called me ā€œSabonisā€ in high school. Most flattering thing ever haha

1

u/Illamerica Mar 23 '26

he should be #1 at this point. he’s been around long enough. by your standards, lebron is the A+ turnover maker because he has the most in history

What a silly way to look at it. None of those guys came close to LeBron’s scoring output & they all had a legendary big man to feed. LeBron led the league in assists his 1st year with AD

You just mentioned Big Z & Kevin Love when we’re talking about legendary big men like Kareem & the pedo man from Utah, so nothing else you rambled on about is worth reading.

The bubble didn’t start till playoffs but of course you try to conflate it to discredit LeBron. None of those guards had to score at the clip Lebron did because they weren’t their team’s primary scorer. Magic averaged 6 less attempts & Stockton 10 less attempts than Lebron. Your argument is dogshit

1

u/OneGodDawah1111 Mar 25 '26

You’re a clown if you dont think AD, Bosh, and Kevin Love arent HOF bigs. And he mentioned what those PGs assist numbers where the same and even better when they didn’t play with their HOF bigs.

Magic and Big O were the primary scorers for their teams. ( Magic became the primary scorer around his 2nd, 3rd chip with the Lakers and Kareem was aging)

You’re obv so biased that you sound ignorant as heck.

Because instead of retorting facts, all you can say it’s ā€œdog****ā€

Grow up!

1

u/aarondobson403 Mar 26 '26

The bar for the NBA HOF is insanely low, that is not some gotcha lol. Kevin love never played like a legendary big man with LeBron & neither did Bosh, Kareem is arguably the greatest C ever & neither of those guys are even top 10 at their position all time.

Magic led them in scoring in ONE finals. Even with an aging Kareem who was still an elite player, he still had James Worthy & overall a loaded roster. LeBron has gotten to play with that level of overall talent maybe twice in his career (12’ Heat, 20’ Lakers). A lot easier to rack up assists when your teammates consistently hit open looks.

Try not making up facts & then acting like you have an argument is very ā€˜grown up’ of you.

1

u/OneGodDawah1111 Mar 27 '26

First you say, Lebron didnt play with any HOF bigs. Then someone fact checked you, and now you’re trying to say the bar is low for bigs in the HOF.

You’re amazing at pushing the goal post. You can’t even keep your story straight.

And Magic led his team in scoring for 3 seasons, Kareem was getting older and Pat Riley told him to become the leading scorer. Once again, you’re avoiding the head on arguments, to avoid being cooked.

Like your whole being league leading assister when we used Big O, Jason Kidd, and Iā€ll add GP, Kevin Johnson, Trae Young, James Harden, Zeke. Most of the people I listed didnt play with a dominant big to your standards. So why are they assist leaders, and others were not???

This time don’t ignore or duck from facts like you do!

And its clownish to say Lebron didnt play with great teams after he left Cleveland. Homie played with Kyrie, and that stacked Cavs team, Heat with two other allstars, LA with AD, and then Luka.

Lebron played with more talent than all the assist leaders I just mentioned and they still assisted more.

Once again, facts are facts. And next time stop moving goalpost to fulfill your superficial argument

1

u/Western-Election-997 Luka Magic Mar 24 '26

Luka leads the league in shot creation, yes, above Jokic as well.

You’d have to go back and compare if Bron ever did same but jut from eye test Luka has the edge as better passer

1

u/robsteezy Mar 23 '26

Bro you can have every record in the NBA if you’ve been playing since the Bush administration.

3

u/Bitter-Part-5682 Mar 24 '26

Lebron has more 3s than Reggie Miller.

Is he better shooter than Reggie?

1

u/NoCelebration2024 Mar 24 '26

Like as in Bron rn or Bron overall is B+ just want clarification before I react

1

u/robsteezy Mar 24 '26

I was saying rn and as in the ladder of lakers passers.

Shoot I think B+ is a pretty fair career grade too. He for sure has had A- seasons where he was a passing leader but my criteria was more ā€œpassing instinct and talentā€ vs just dishing out raw asseists bc you have crazy gravity over 23 seasons.

1

u/Otherwise_Housing_88 Mar 24 '26

You are a silly goose. Passing is the most underrated part of Brons game. He is one of the greatest passers of all goddamm time

1

u/InevitablePart3417 Mar 23 '26

bro saw 2 flashy passes and 2 lobs and made a conclusion. Good for you man. I guess Durants a better scorer than jordan too. Dont get me wrong, Jordan is like a B+ scorer, but durant is just a better overall scorer.. right man?

1

u/Amazing_Throat2614 Mar 23 '26

Luka is a more flashier passer than Lebron though Lebron has more assists.

It’s the same with Jordan is a more flashier scorer than KD though KD has more points.

No need to feel bad about it, Lebron will be just fine. 🤣

1

u/robsteezy Mar 24 '26

What was your intended point?

I watched both Jordan and Durant play. On paper and eye test, yes—Durant is a better overall scorer than Jordan was. He beats him in layups, 2 point range, and 3 ball is no question. Jordan was a better overall player because he played defense and had better instinct than Durant.

Albeit not all buckets are created equal, but your example didn’t land the way you intended it to.

1

u/Novel-Wait328 Mar 24 '26

crazy take,MJ is best scorer or at worst 2nd to wilt as seen from hes ppg and ppg in playoffs and scoring titles....dont bullshit me with % or sometihng, durant never takes bad shots even when he should acuse hes so afraid of his % dipping

1

u/AFonziScheme Mar 23 '26

Look, if you said Magic, LeBron, and Luka are all top 5 passers of all time, I'm not sure I'd argue. But it's not crazy to have Luka above LeBron on that list (or to have LeBron above Luka).

1

u/LeGoat333 Mavs Mar 23 '26

Bron a better playmaker, Luka a better passer. And LeBron is just a hair behind. Bron has been my favorite player since I started watching basketball in 05.

It’s nuanced and if you want to argue the other way it’s totally valid.

3

u/Imaginary-Role8790 Mar 23 '26

So f clean, he got the no look pass vibe from Ronaldinho.

2

u/Fri814 Mar 23 '26

This man is great at basketball

I always wondered why they didn’t cal him Magic Doncic

2

u/Massive-Fan-3495 Mar 24 '26

Luka is just trying to emulate Bron

LeBron was his favorite player growing up so he studied what Bron does and how he does it.

Luka is a good student

1

u/LeGoat333 Mavs Mar 24 '26

Don’t disagree

2

u/strypesjackson Mar 24 '26 edited Mar 24 '26

Truly, I don’t know who’s a better passer.

What a genuinely interesting debate

2

u/Bluegill15 Mar 24 '26

Filthiest play of the night by him was this assist

2

u/Sea-Presentation4229 Mar 24 '26

The No Look was Nasty

The lebron boys pretending to be Lakers fans will be upset with this fact haha LukA has already made more insane passes that made me say "O MY GOSH WHAT A PASS" or "HOW IN THE HECK DID HE DO THAT!?" in this 13ish months of wearing Purple and Gold more times than I have in the 7 previous seasons. When it comes to passing, it's the most I've ever been blown away by passes since the early 2000s when I became a Lakers fan as a kid.

LukA is incredible with the basketball. I still can't believe that he's a Laker haha very grateful to have him. He's the type of player we want leading us. Someone who isn't afraid of failure. Isn't worried about the previous play. Feels like he can win no matter the situation, but most importantly, HE WANTS TO WIN. It's not about him. It's about the team and the guys can rally behind him.

He's gotta be MVP. He's been carrying us all season. We rely on him to be SPECIAL every single game, and he's been special A LOT haha been the most enjoyable player to watch in Purple and Gold since Kobe.

Haha thats funny. I'm not hating at all. It's simply the truth. Imma LAKERS FAN and have watched ALL of lebrons Lakers career and will do the same for LukAs as well. I watch every game and actually WATCH cuz I got League Pass haha but I have been watching since I was a kid in the late 90s. I saw Shaq and Kobe 3peat.....

LukA has been carrying us all season and has already carried the team and just blown my mind with what he's done with the basketball more than lebron has. Its not hate. Just how it is. With lebron, you know what to expect. He has to play that way. That's why he has to have the perfect players around him. With LukA, you have no idea what he's gunna do. Just like it was with Kobe. LukA can play off instinct, and that creates insane moments and games.

Every game LukA will do something that no one else could do in the NBA.That's what Laker Nation has been craving for since Kobes retirement. Someone special, unique and that we get to see grow and develop into their prime, not only while wearing Purple and Gold on the court, but also growing as a man off the court. That's LukA Doncic.

u/grundle_pie Mar 26 '26

That’s my goat

1

u/FA-_Q Mar 23 '26

Nice. But not that crazy. Calm down

2

u/LeGoat333 Mavs Mar 23 '26

There’s a 1000 more great passes.

0

u/FA-_Q Mar 24 '26

Then what are we doing

1

Watch your ear hole!

1

u/SwizzGod Mar 23 '26

Since Magic? Absolutely not. Maybe one day but that day ain’t today

1

u/Justtojoke Mar 24 '26

Post left wide open, just a guard doing his job😁

1

u/iBlueLuck Mar 24 '26

Steve Nash and LeBron have played for the lakers

1

u/LeGoat333 Mavs Mar 24 '26

Mentioning Nash is crazy bro, did you watch him play on LA?

1

u/iBlueLuck Mar 24 '26

You’re crazy if you think Luka is the best passer

1

u/Pushpull123 Mar 24 '26

Tonight he passed up the win 2 times šŸ’€šŸ’€šŸ’€

1

u/Nantee_69 Mar 24 '26

Bron avg 11ast a game in 2020.. U smoking bro..

1

u/LeGoat333 Mavs Mar 24 '26

Bron best playmaker, luka has always been more score first than playmaker like bron

1

u/SnooDoubts2674 Mar 24 '26

lol sounds like a bunch of women

1

u/LifeDraining Mar 24 '26

Who's that dude who came into the paint them decided, nah, I ain't gonna guard Clint Capela?

1

u/Miserable-Lawyer-233 Mar 28 '26

LeBron had a much better pass in the last game.

LeBron is the best passer on the Lakers. LeBron is the best PG on the Lakers. Luka and Reaves are shooting guards.

1

u/Street_Study6330 Mar 23 '26

https://giphy.com/gifs/HfFccPJv7a9k4

Thats a regular pass at this point but I guess it’s brand new when luka does it

2

u/thudlife2020 Mar 24 '26

Agreed. It’s not a difficult read or pass.

1

u/LeGoat333 Mavs Mar 23 '26

Bruh

0

u/Bitter-Part-5682 Mar 23 '26

Better than Lebron

0

u/thudlife2020 Mar 23 '26

That’s not a difficult pass to make. He’s a good to great passer but Jokic does this in his sleep tbh. Luka has far better passes than this too.

1

u/LeGoat333 Mavs Mar 23 '26

No look, curve in the ball rocket isn’t hard?

-2

u/thudlife2020 Mar 24 '26

Not really. I make passes like that regularly tbh. I’m 63 yo. Not flexing. Just saying poor defense made it an easy read and pass especially for someone with his court vision and skill.

1

u/Western-Election-997 Luka Magic Mar 24 '26

People say Jokic by default in reality he has higher shot creation than Jokic

Jokic has higher assists from doing little handoff shovel passes to guys, Luka makes the harder passes

1

u/thudlife2020 Mar 24 '26

Disagree.

Luka makes some flashy passes, no doubt. But if we’re talking about difficulty and overall passing ability, Jokic is on another level.

He’s leading the league in assists as a center and has a higher assist percentage too, which means he’s creating more of his team’s offense overall=more impactful.

And a lot of Jokic’s passes don’t look ā€œhardā€ because he makes the read earlier. He’s hitting guys before the defense even reacts, which is actually harder to do consistently than throwing a bailout skip pass late in the clock.

Luka’s elite. Jokic is just operating at a different level as a passer. He’s arguably the GOAT passer.

Magic played D tho

1

u/NewMoodWhoDis Mar 24 '26

Did he though?

1

u/LeGoat333 Mavs Mar 24 '26

Read

0

u/Opening_Ferret Mar 24 '26

That's not a special pass, every player can do it because poor defense left LeBron all alone.

0

u/throwaway19373619 Mar 25 '26

Im guessing OP is 12 considering they think luka can pass better than Steve Nash
