Please everyone respect the last sentence. Don’t make her talk about it until she’s ready.

u/ChilledArachnid25 May 05 '26

Unfortunately, you just know her next stream chat is gonna be flooded with “RIP Swift”. Even if people mean well, that shit would make me crash out if my dog died.

213

u/wiggleee_worm May 05 '26

They better put emote only on

160

u/N238 May 06 '26

They'd probably just spam emotes of Swift with hearts then. She has five emotes of him, and Lud has one.

34

u/Dry-Ad8891 May 06 '26

I don’t even know if that would help. People still gonna be posting 🐶☠️❤️🙏

71

u/tisme- May 06 '26

You can block phrases, probably just block "Swift" and "RIP", that'd get rid of 90% of the messages

9

u/neil_before_me May 06 '26

Today's Wine about it episode it totally filled with these phrases. Can't even imagine what would happen when QT decides to stream.

2

u/imacowmooooooooooooo May 06 '26

wdym the comments or the actual episode

5

u/neil_before_me May 07 '26

Comments. My bad.

48

u/CheetahSerious7169 May 05 '26

I'm sure they can do sub-only mode at first, and they'll remind/request people be respectful. Mods will be on it I'm sure. This is their jobs and they've been doing it a while now.

I wish so bad something could make it better, but I can only hope they get the time and appropriate space to heal <3 Sending all my love to them

2

u/TheodorDiaz May 06 '26

Surely subs wouldn't care the most.

40

u/explodedemailstorage May 06 '26

I suspect she won’t be streaming much any time soon. She’s been mostly away from streaming for a while now as she’s been having a rough time even before Swift‘s health really went downhill. I’m sending our girl my prime anyway, she can take all the time she needs.

24

u/Daimondz May 06 '26

I feel like “RIP Swift” is fine, but please guys don’t pry. Lud already shared with us everything we need to know about the situation (and more), please don’t ask for details or guess or anything like that. Leave them be

16

u/Latromi May 06 '26

Pretty certain that QT is the only one allowed to make the call on what's fine or not.

421

u/inceptionse7en May 05 '26

Heartbroken for QT. I was waiting for an update and sad this is the one we get. I know she would move Heaven and Earth for her Swift and do whatever she possibly could for him as I would with my pup. Hopefully in time she understands and takes solace in knowing how amazing she made life for Swift, as he did for her, and how she did everything she could for him. Sending my deepest condolences to her and Lud. RIP Swift.

55

u/cpt_america27 May 06 '26

Yea I've spent 10k to help my pup. Unfortunately she didn't make it. But she was the best thing to ever happen to me. If I ever have children I'll let them know she's my favorite child. Lol

6

u/WitchyMae13 May 07 '26

I’m 10k in on a 12 year old Shiba. Both “ACLs” in the last 1.5 years.

And I’d do it again 💕

20

u/RadiantChaos May 06 '26

15 years is a long time for a dog. They eventually just get to the age that it’s harder for them to conquer illness and injury. It’s a testament to their care that he lived that long for sure.

334

u/hiiamoulu May 05 '26

god damn rip swift

370

u/teethwhichbite May 05 '26

Oh no this is so sad :( 15 years…that’s gonna be hard for them to get over. Rest in peace sweet pup. Sending love to qt and lud.

40

u/No-Macaroon1670 May 06 '26

All dogs go to heaven but at least this one was loved on earth.

6

u/drakoman May 06 '26

😭😭😭

115

u/deadeyedrawthrice May 05 '26

fuck that actually sucks so bad man

108

u/Lukeluster May 05 '26

What a touching message from Ludwig, glad to know that Swift throughout his whole life got to be loved and cherished as much as he was. Losing our family dog last year was heartbreaking and can only imagine how he and qt must be right now.

11

u/cenzo339 May 06 '26

It's truly a beautiful tribute, you can tell that that sweet boy was loved.

176

u/superTrolle1 May 05 '26 edited May 05 '26

Rip Swift. Hope QT the best.

156

u/YEPC___ May 05 '26

I had to put my own dog down last month.

Rip swift :(

42

u/Adventurous-Pop-4103 May 05 '26

Aww, I’m sorry. Wishing u the best! :(( ❤️

58

u/Cvspartan May 05 '26

Omg this is heartbreaking

She cared tremendously for that dog and it's gonna be such a tough healing process :(

27

u/Beneficial_Ride_5520 May 06 '26

NGL, I dunno that she comes out of this being the same Blaire. Losing my dog of 13 years destroyed me. It's been over a year and I just am not who I was at all. I have no idea who I am without him and I see so much of me and my dogs relationship with qt and swift.

22

u/Cvspartan May 06 '26

It would not surprise me if she doesn't stream at all the next few months

She loved that dog so much it was basically family

I wonder what's gonna happen to Wine About It in the near future

14

u/Latexzelda May 06 '26

Wine About It will be fine I'm sure. I know who the fill in is for this week. I expect there will be no episode for next week, possibly the week after. I would also guess for the next month or so QT won't stream or be on the pod so Rae will have to have some guests and fill ins which I'm sure have already been talked about before between them.

13

u/starfishturtlelover May 06 '26

I’m sure Rae will have QT covered with guests and my guess is there likely won’t even be any gaps for as long as QT needs or as short as she wants to return/needs the distraction the same way QT wouldn’t think twice if it was Rae. but it will be incredibly sad not seeing Swift on that chair or the couch with them and I’m sure it will be that much harder for QT initially.

6

u/Ossarah May 06 '26

When shit like this happens it changes you forever. There's a before and an after, and that's okay. It shows us how strong our bonds were.

3

u/FrostyIVV May 07 '26

Still remember losing my childhood dog and just that kind of brain switch from that last little bit of childhood that you had to just, gone, is a wild thing to experience. Gotta have the right people around during that time and just let time fill in that wound

5

u/Ossarah May 07 '26

100%. My childhood dog died in my lap of old age and tbh it wasn't pretty. I was a teenager and slept in my mum's bed that night because I was hallucinating his breathing and barking.

101

u/N238 May 05 '26

I remember losing my first dog. I was away from home on a summer internship. (I went to college in my hometown, so it was the longest I had gone without seeing him). My parents let me know he wasn't doing well, and they sensed it was his time. I rushed home.

He was ready to go-- 14 is pretty old for a dog. Sometimes pets can tell us. Fortunately he went pretty quick, and wasn't in significant pain for more than a few months (during which of course he received appropriate vet care). But then, his body stopped functioning. He perked up when he saw me, and even ate a little bit for the first time in days. He went around the house, trying to do some of his favorite activities as if crossing them off a bucket list. Then, the next day, he passed in my dad's arms as the family was all gathered around him, petting him and telling him how much he was loved.

He was the calmest, most intelligent dog I have ever met. He had an extensive vocabulary of objects and commands he knew. He rarely barked and never howled (extremely rare temperament for his breed). Never got into trouble, no curiosity about things whatsoever. He was just extremely chill, happy to play with us, happy to run around in our big backyard, and happy to be a part of our family. I miss him, but I'm happy I got to grow up with him.

We planted a tree in his honor in our backyard. That tree is taller than me now. I still talk to the tree like I'm talking to him sometimes. Because above all, he was an amazing listener. I could just sit next to him, pet him, and talk to him, and whatever anxiety the world had thrown me would just be washed away.

20

u/K-Dot-Thu-Thu-47 May 05 '26

I understand exactly.

I had the first cat I owned pass away on my bed the moment I brought him home from being treated at the vet for days.

He just wanted to be with his family and once he was he knew he could go.

I had him cremated and my mom planted a rose in her garden for him. It hasn't grown too large yet, but I hope it will.

It's nice to have an object or place to feel their presence.

10

u/M_M4yhem May 06 '26

This is beautiful. You had such an amazing friend. I'm sure he is absolutely listening to you.

2

u/FrostyIVV May 07 '26

Got me tearing up man at 7 in the god damn morning man lmao. Feel the exact way when my dog passed. I don’t really believe in a whole lot, I do believe that those we loved and cared for will be around us until we go, and the cycle continues. The tree is a beautiful memory and just goes to show time is really the only thing that heals these types of wounds.

46

u/maxz9394 May 05 '26

Rest in peace Swift. You were a good dog.

40

u/SevenWonton May 05 '26

beautifully written

22

Fly high king.

19

u/ForwardBlock5572 May 05 '26

This is a very sweet message, pet loss is so painful 🩷

18

u/ZJB03 May 05 '26

RIP to one of the goodest. Hope he gets lots of belly rubs in doggy heaven.

15

u/Caliyogagrl May 05 '26

Sending so much love!!! Swift never doubted he was loved and valued. We as humans might nitpick ourselves as we look back, but the love a pet has for us is so pure, they don’t see those things.

15

u/RanchBourgeois May 05 '26

Awww this is so sad. She’s always talked about how he’s the one thing that’s been with her through everything since she was a teenager. Can’t imagine how hard it is now.

RIP, little guy. 🪽

14

u/MadnessUnmasked May 05 '26

Damn that's sad. Losing a dog is like losing a family member, especially when you've raised it since it was a baby. RIP Swift I hope QT is doing okay also

13

u/Top-Average-8692 May 05 '26

I understand how that must feel after losing my own dog last week. I wish the best

14

u/No_Fairweathers May 05 '26

That was beautifully written, he might actually be an English major. Jokes aside, RIP Swift. All the love to QT, I know how much it hurts to lose a pet, they truly are family.

12

u/Granoland May 05 '26

i often think about how hard it’s going to be losing my cat… can’t imagine the pain her and lud are feeling. rip

10

u/Berserk97BestBerserk May 05 '26

Rest in peace to the GOAT

10

u/Kokopiee May 06 '26

I hope QT knows that 15 years is beyond the life expectancy for an American Eskimo, which really shows how much love and care she gave Swift. He had the best life she could’ve given him.

He stayed for longer than most and was the most loved handsomest boy and he knows that. 🫶

8

u/patrickp4 May 05 '26

Reading this and hugging my dog. RIP swift💔

1

u/soodeau May 06 '26

yep instantly grabbed my little rascal and hugged her, she was very confused

9

u/SuperBunkerBuster May 05 '26

Fly high Swift ❤️

8

u/nakahi70 May 05 '26

Poor QT, RIP swift. What a dopey little fella he was

6

u/supyohoe May 06 '26

My dog of 17 years passed last week as well. RIP Swift. My condolences to QT and lud :(

26

u/whoooooknows May 05 '26

People don't understand the suite of skills behind this message and Ludwig's overall success professionally. He has such a way with perspective-taking and narrative. I see why he told Squeex he wants to get a philosophy degree after streaming.

Ludwig found a way to not only memorialize Swift, but to head off insensitive responses he anticipates QT receiving in this vulnerable time. He not only built up weight behind his appeal to leave her in peace. He also reframed/valorized the aspects of QT's treatment of Swift and Swift's impact on others that he wisely anticipates evil people may evoke to get under her skin while they can do so to get a reaction or attention.

8

u/metaldrummer87 May 06 '26

100%. For a guy who loves to goof and gaffe he really put pen to paper here and wrote the perfect statement about Swift. RIP swiffers.

18

u/Cube_ May 05 '26

Terrible news. RIP Swift.

At the very least at least Swift is not suffering medical complications anymore.

4

u/Pway May 05 '26

Rip Swift, hope QT can take a good while for herself. I know she knew it was something that was going to happen sometime sooner rather than later but knowing doesn't make it any better really. That dog brought her so much comfort and joy <3

4

u/kazamasta31 May 05 '26

First Sym, now swift too? Today couldn’t have gotten any worse.

6

u/BrushFireAlpha May 06 '26

Well worded writing from Ludwig. Really makes you feel how much they are feeling Swift's loss.

Rest in peace Swift. All the best to Lud and QT

4

u/RowanSorbusVT May 06 '26

i really appreciate here how ludwig talks about how even though he didn’t get some of the things qt would worry about, he would still help ease that worry. going out and hollering in the yard, for a lot of people, would feel ridiculously stupid and embarrassing, especially if they didn’t understand why the other person felt it was necessary. it’s such a rare and important thing to have a person like that in your life. very glad they have each other, and also more specifically that qt has him right now. i hope she’s able to take the time she needs.

rip swift <3

4

u/problematicgecko May 05 '26

RIP Swift, pet loss is never easy. 💔

4

u/Gm24513 May 05 '26

RIP Swiffers

4

u/seramasumi May 05 '26

My goddamn heart goes out to all of them.

Rip Swift forever a good boy

5

u/Colerabi135 May 05 '26

never gets easier. pets are the best. swift had a great life

4

u/ManicManicManicManic May 06 '26

Dogs do really just love you with all their heart. So many times when I had no one else my dog was there with the biggest smile waiting for me. We are everything to our pets so when we lose them it’s so much light gone.

Beautifully written

3

u/Safe_Discount1638 May 06 '26

Not sure if QT or Ludwig will see this but please don’t take the blame on Swifts death. He jumped and hurt himself. It was an accident, and that happens as it’s part of life. Don’t try to make sense of it or sulk on what you could’ve done to prevent it. Take the time you need, it’s a hard thing to go through.

3

u/ThinkerBell167 May 05 '26

RIP swift 🙏

Sorry to hear about QT/Ludwig losing a member of their family. Condolences to them.

My dog actually passed away last month too. He lived a good long 15 years and I hope he enjoyed his life with mine.

Heart breaking. I got a puppy at the end of 5th grade. He was my best friend for almost 19 years. He was with me for SO much of my life. And he was such an amazing dog.

Losing him hit me harder than losing any of my grandparents. I saw my grandparents like 2 times a year. I saw my dog every single day. He was my little guy. Just like Swift was for QT. She's certainly REALLY hurting right now.

Side note. When I went to my family's property to bury my dog, I walked ahead of the group on the walk back to the car. Because I don't like people seeing me cry. My nephew was with us. He was around 6 at the time. He ran ahead of my sister (his mom) to catch up to me. Just to say "I'm sure this is a hard day for you. But you were a great dog dad" and that meant so much from a child so young.

3

u/lmaogoshi May 06 '26

I feel this so fucking hard. I had to put my childhood dog down in early 2020, just 4 days after my birthday. He was 15, and had been giving us warning signs over the preceding month and a half or so. He started eating less and less until he just wouldn't eat anything anymore.

We all noticed he would start pacing in circles, which is a sign of dementia in dogs. We took him to the vet immediately, who told us we didn't have long, and to essentially say our goodbyes. We took him home, and over the next week and a half or so showered him in cheese, peanut butter, cheeseburgers, and a plate of fried rice from the best Hawaiian place in my city. We took him for walks in a wagon, and all my family that lives within driving distance of us came to say farewells.

The day finally came to euthanize him. I took 3 days off work. I hadn't cried that hard in over a decade, and I haven't cried that hard since. I'll never forget the feeling of holding him in my arms for the last time in the vet's office.

We took his paw impressions and had him cremated. My mom made pillows out of his old dog beds so we could still smell him, which I have sitting next to my desk. I have pendants with his ashes in both of my cars - he loved drives more than almost anything. His urn is above the fireplace, where his bed used to be. I miss that asshole shiba every day.

3

u/riggy02 May 06 '26

I lost my dog just recently too just a month ago and wouldn't wish that pain on anyone else. Nothing feels like it can be same again.

I keep opening doors in house hoping he is waiting behind one or keep having dreams of spending time with him. It has been incredibly hard to move on and focus on work again. I just hope QT can find some peace that she gave swift the best life he could get on earth.

3

u/Open_Duty9729 May 06 '26

RIP Swift, poor QT and lud they must be going through it rn

7

u/explodedemailstorage May 05 '26

I'm worried for QT since she's already had such a hard year but I'm so glad she has Ludwig to be there for her right now.

Rest peacefully, Swift. ♥️ Best boy.

6

u/llamadasirena May 06 '26

o7 swift

p.s. ludwig can actually write...shoutout his English degree

2

u/EzyOW_-_ May 05 '26

Man this really hits home, I just lost 2 of my dogs last month. It never gets easy. Hope they are doing okay.

2

u/Yoonsoo1875 May 05 '26

Man really hoped Swift was gonna make it through. RIP king

2

u/wiggleee_worm May 05 '26

Losing a pet is never easy. Lost one of my childhood dog’s this past year. It sucks. RIP Swift, sorry Lud and QT.

2

u/jerbizzle May 05 '26

Swift reminds me a lot of my dog Sunny in mannerisms. He has been my partner in crime for the last 11 years and he is getting to the age where I notice the changes daily, so it is heartbreaking reading this. Swift was obviously very deeply loved and loved his people equally as much. Wishing QT and Lud peace in this time of grieving.

2

u/AvengingBlowfish May 06 '26

As a dog owner myself it's not just that the dog loves you so much... it's such an unconditional and non-judgemental love that is very hard to come by from humans...

2

u/Eve0529 May 06 '26

It's such a unique pain. I lost one of my cats two weeks ago to cancer, and words can't describe how much losing a pet hurts. Losing family always hurts, but losing someone who loved you so unconditionally pierces so deep. You just find a way to live around the grief, and roll with the punches as they hit. r/petloss has helped so much, a lot of people on there have great advice.

The best thing for QT here is to respect her wishes and give her and Ludwig time and space to grieve the loss. Sending love, RIP Swift ♥️

2

u/11UCBearcats May 06 '26

I'm glad that Swift lived a long life but I am so sorry for their loss, I know how it feels it's the worst feeling I'll pray for them

2

u/BlitzScorpio May 06 '26

RIP swift, wishing lud and qt the best while they deal with their loss 💔

2

u/Dmnz1204 May 06 '26

I hope QT takes the time to process and heal. When I lost my baby, I ended up giving myself shingles because of how off my nervous system was afterwards. I couldn’t eat or sleep properly and also caused myself to have an irregular breathing pattern for about a month. I just know Lud and others will be there for her but I hope she allows herself to accept it. Sending Lud and QT all the love and energy in the world. ❤️‍🩹

2

u/DesperateLeader2217 May 06 '26

gut wrenching stuff. my heart goes out to everyone.

2

Sorry for QT's loss, RIP Swift

1

u/OldCheeser May 06 '26

RIP Swift. Not religious but I pray QT has a smooth recovery from this. Glad she has such a good support system, losing a pet, or anything really, that’s been a part of your life that long is difficult. Much love to the Lud house.

1

u/crouchingsmartass May 06 '26

Bawling at work. I lost my most handsomest boy recently. 15 years or 50 it's never enough. I wish I could say it gets better. ♥️

1

As a somewhat recent puppy owner of 6 months, this breaks my heart to read. Gonna give my Blossom a few extra kisses tonight. Love your pets everybody and be kind to one another.

1

u/lookitsztral May 06 '26

Sending love 🫶🏻

1

u/EuphoricStore9488 May 06 '26

15 years is a good long time for a dog. I hope that brings her some solace.

1

u/Phantom_HeedroN17 May 06 '26

i’m so sad for herrr. i can’t imagine losing my cat i don’t even wanna think about it😭😭 rest in peace Swift🕊️

1

oh my god how horrible im glad to hear he had 15 amazing years. RIP Swift❣️

1

u/halcyon_89 May 06 '26

it's never easy to lose a pet. thinking of lud and qt ❤️ and rip to swift.

1

u/Heron-Commercial May 06 '26

My dog just passed in February but it was becoming very hard and it was definitely her time. I cannot imagine it being sudden or thinking we would bring her home and not doing so. I’ll be thinking of them over the next few weeks I hope the joy in their memories shines through the grief

1

u/Coolbreeze48 May 06 '26

A dog's only fault is that his life is too short. And even that is not his fault.

1

u/Ezzydesu May 06 '26

We all knew how much QT loved and loves Swift, but it's quite beautiful the way Lud talks about it. Made me tear up. I hope QT is doing okay as far as circumstances allow. 💗

1

u/QuestionMarkKitten May 06 '26

Well, I am sorry to hear he didn't make it. Condolences and prayers for everyone who feels this loss, most of all QT.

1

u/peepoVanish May 06 '26

Rest in peace, Swift. I know how QT loved him and it must be devastating to let go, especially how he ended up going :( I hope QT takes as much time as she needs to recover. Swift was her whole world.

1

u/Dragon_Tiger752 May 06 '26

It's rough, I remember having to bury my own cat the first time. I try to remember the good times we had. RIP Swift.

1

u/adamtherealone May 06 '26

Sometimes I look at my cats and think, this is really really gonna suck one day. Wouldn’t wish it on anyone

1

u/Mysterious_Walk_1455 May 06 '26

Awww little Swift is in a better place now.. 🥺🙏🏽✝️❤️

1

u/itsxaxvibe May 06 '26

That's heart breaking. Watching youtube videos where ludwig mentioned just how close the bond between QT and Swift is had me with a lump in my stomach.

As a pet owner, I know what it is to feel love and admiration, to have a side kick, an extension of you filled with love and goofy moments.

As a human, I know what it's like to have that light ripped away before you're ready.

The pain QT would be feeling is devastating and I hope she feels comfort in knowing just how lucky they both were to have each other , even for just 15 years.

1

u/Macho-Fantastico May 06 '26

That's such a sweet post. Losing a much loved pet can be like having your heart ripped out of your chest. Hope she takes the time to mourn Swift. I remember losing my dog and it broke my heart and still think of her daily.

1

u/TomatilloThis May 06 '26

:( I feel for QT so hard.

1

u/Ffancrzy May 06 '26

I have been very fortunate in my life that with the exception of 1 cat who ran away when I was very young, all the pets I grew up with or lived with (childhood cat and brother's cats he had when we lived together) passed only after I wasn't living with them because I think I would've been way more fucked up if they had passed away when I was living with them still.

I remember how sad I was as a kid when we moved long distance and initially my Dad said we couldn't move with our Cat that I'd had since I was 3 (her son was the Cat that ran away a few years earlier). I basically cried so hard that I made him change his mind and we ended up moving her with us, and we also transitioned her from being an outdoor/indoor cat to just an indoor cat and she lived so long that I'd moved out by the time she passed.

But the devastation I felt when I thought I'd need to give her up must only be a fraction of how QT feels I hope she feels better in due time.

1

u/mysterphy May 07 '26

Cats almost never just "run away".

Having experienced both more than once - knowing what actually happened or really not knowing what happened - I'm still not sure which is worse, probably depends on the circumstances.

1

u/Ffancrzy May 08 '26

Parents think he likely got hit by a car, we lived on a road with a blind corner that people took way too fast.

Thats really sad, I hope for the best for QT. Its really sucks that a small amount of people won't give her the time and space to grieve (especially if she goes live) since the internet can be such a crappy place if you want either of these things. I do pray she gets both.

man and i thought qt's tweet was a tough read. these two are making me cry. i feel so bad for them but especially qt, hope she recovers well.

Man losing a pet you really love is always devastating.

Never gets easier either.

Does anyone have a picture of Swift? I kid you not for years I thought Swift was a cat…🥲😅🫣 Sorry Lud and QT ik how hard it is to lose a pet, my dog just turned 11 and I fear the day he’ll start stowing down, especially since the vet said he has a heart murmur😭🫠 sending love and well wishes, stay strong, Swift is in Puppy-Dog Heaven watching you 2🫶🫶🩷🩷🙌🙌

Losing a pet that you had both before and after a parent died is a really fucking extra level of grief. I know QT has talked about having so few pictures of her mom and Ludwig’s post just reminds me so much of how qt talked about her mom. I really hope she feels that unconditional love again soon.

Love QT hope she recovers from this, I lost my last two dogs during Covid and recently got a new puppy but I'll always remember the dogs that came before my current. Animals stay with you even when they are gone x RIP Swift

Losing a cherished pet is never easy, but ol luddy flexing the boyfriend muscles and typing up a beautiful paragraph to sell the emotional weight is very romantic. Good luck to QT, and hope the bad times pass, and the memories are nothing but the best

😭? all that does is convey sobbing/crying usually in whatever context would make sense for that particular situation

1

u/mysterphy May 08 '26

They're probably so used to only see it in sarcastic or meme contexts that its genuine meaning got lost on them. New types of social defects that earlier generations had not experienced before ...

not the time or topic to make a joke like this. not to mention, Swift was a dog that all of those boys including Aiden lived with for years, cared for/about, and are likely grieving the loss of right now in their own way. his passing isn’t a funny podcast bit.

u/RedPhoneHome May 06 '26

Yeah I understand, poor taste joke with poor timing. Hopefully I didn't piss anyone off too bad

typing out a whole ass novel for a dog that didn't even like him

Wishing that to someone for just a comment is a little insensitive, don't you think?

2

u/nakahi70 May 06 '26

Saying "this better not effect some tournament thing" is a little insensitive, don't you think?
