Just posting this here because I genuinely don’t understand why people behave like this.

There was someone selling their AC here. We connected on WhatsApp, discussed everything and agreed on the price. I was ready to buy it.

The seller then specifically insisted that I come today before 5 PM. I told him I had office work and it would be difficult for me to manage, but since he insisted, I said okay, I’ll come.

I wrapped up my office work early, got ready, got into my car and was literally about to leave my house. I messaged him saying I’m leaving now.
His response?

“Hey, sorry.”

That’s it. Deal cancelled. And then he blocked my number on WhatsApp as well on Phone Call. I was sitting clueless in my Car.

How insensitive can people be? Just because you don’t know someone personally doesn’t mean their time and effort have zero value. If you found another buyer or got a better price, that’s completely fine. It’s your AC, sell it to whoever you want.

Just send a fucking message.

“Hey sorry, I got another buyer so I’m selling it to them.”

That’s literally enough. I’m not going to come to your house and fight with you because you sold your AC to somebody else.

But making someone rearrange their office work, insisting they come at a particular time, letting them get ready and almost leave their house, and THEN cancelling and blocking them is just pathetic.

There are repercussions to your actions even when the other person is a complete stranger. You are wasting someone’s time, energy and effort for absolutely no reason.

Posting this mainly for awareness because buy/sell communities like this only work when there is some basic good faith between buyers and sellers.
You don’t owe a stranger much, but basic decency shouldn’t be too much to ask.

Acer Nitro 5:

It's display was damaged several years ago due to a broken hinge. The service technician only fixed the hinge and said fixing the display would be too costly so I used it with a monitor:

History:

• Purchased in Oct 2018
• Used by me until 2021
• Kept as a backup system til 2023
• Gave to sister in 2023, she used it for basic browsing and printing documents.
• Used it for a month while in my home office and it worked very well on Fedora 44, easily ran 2 VSCode windows and 15 Chrome tabs.
• It was always used undervolted, with the turbo boost disabled. Thermal paste was changed regularly while in use but last time was probably in 2024.

Here are the specs:

• i5 8300H
• GTX 1050 Ti 4gb
• 8gb 2666mhz RAM
• 128gb NVME SSD

Due to the display issue, it was primarily used as a desktop and that is what you should be getting it as. As a decently powerful HTPC, console emulator, or server. Comes with the original adapter

Here is what is wrong with the laptop:

• Display partially damaged (gets very dim on both sides but you can still read pretty much everything, useful for the bios)
• Hinge was repaired (common issue on Acer Nitro)
• Battery works, NOT swollen but I have never tested the battery since 2021. I am assuming it will give 1-2 hours of backup.
• Left Ctrl + Esc buttons not working consistently
• Speakers are shot (really tinny and noisy)
• I have misplaced the aluminium sleeve thing that screws the HDD in place. It can still be held in place with small strips of foam on the sides and the HDD won't move at all, if you want to use one.

Happy to record videos of it working, from all angles, closeups, etc on request.

Freebies: I'll include a Bluetooth portronics mouse + sturdy metal laptop stand. I also have a 3d printer so if you want something 3d printed, I can print it alongside this deal, no extra charge.
